Crime against Muslim should NOT be defined as a crime in India.
by sunny chakraborti on Oct 27, 2007 03:02 AM  | Hide replies

Then killing a Muslim should not be held at the same level of crime as killing a non-Muslim in India. Killing a Muslim should be a misdemeanor, unless the Court proved in every case by an appeal from Muslim Personal Board to be otherwise. There has to be a balance for every community as to how much defiant one can be. Otherwise Muslims enjoy an undue privilege, so unless they lacked something available to others-like definition of crime against them it will be injustice to other communities.

They will be tired of taking up every case to get justice.

Let the Mufti or others decide what they don't favour from the general communities, but they will have to lack something which others enjoy...to maintain equal justice and balance for all communities.

Strange
by Kaushik Basu on Oct 27, 2007 02:56 AM

It is really strange that the Mufti opposed this. Registration of marriage is doing exactly the same thing that is mentioned. How would that be a problem? Also if Hindus or any other religion can have a separate cerimony of marriage and get registered as well, how would it create problem or complications?

Educated these idiots
by RajaSekhar Chowdary on Oct 27, 2007 02:35 AM

Its high time to educate these old buggers or throw them into the bay of bengal. Its sick we are living in between these kind of fools who oppose eveything under the name of religion. Whatever good you say, they say its not allowed under their religion. When the idiots have these kinds of rules why the hell they are living with others? Why cant they goto to a lonely continent and die there with their own sick religion.

No registration of marriages:Mufti
by Bodh Ramdeo on Oct 27, 2007 01:23 AM

If this person don't like secular laws, he should go live in the country expressedly created for the likes of them, so that they could live under their own religious laws?
All secualr nations have one law for all, and where registration of births, deaths and marriages are compulsory - civil law.

Mafti: No register Muslim marriages?
by Bodh Ramdeo on Oct 27, 2007 01:19 AM

It has religious undertones, but first and foremost, Marriage is a Legal affair!
India,is a secular nation based on secular laws, which must apply equally to all, not just a selective few. If Mufti wants Islamic law, he is free to go to the country which was carved out of undivided India expressedly for Muslims - Pakistan, where they can live under their own Muslim laws, rather than live under India's secular laws.
Registration of all marriages, births and deaths must be made mandatory, irrespective of religion, in this secular democracy called India. Secular democracies the world over have one law for all, and the hypocritical Cong may hemmm and hawww all they like to their Muslim vote banks, but they must adhere to the secular principles which they continuously tout, at every opportunity.

Marriage registration
by JGN on Oct 26, 2007 10:03 PM

Temporary marriages lasting even for a few hours are allowed for muslims. A few days it was reported that Iran is introducing such a legislation. So naturally the male members of the community have a valid objection. Any why anybody should bother about muslim women if the male members of their society are not willing to listen even to the highest court in the country?

Pat Thakur, why are you worried about muslim women when even the male members of their community are not bothered? They do not even think of the future of their sisters or daughters!

Introduce Uniform Civil Code Immediately & Jail those who oppose it
by A P on Oct 26, 2007 03:21 PM

India claims to be a secular democracy. This means the state will not discriminate people on the basis of religion. Nor shall the state promote any religion. Hence the government should introduce uniform civil code without any delay and apply it to all citizens without any dealy. Any person or community which refuses to adhere to it should be dealt with as per the law. Backward minded obscurantist elements should be met with the iron hand of the state. All Indians should be having a uniform set of laws rather than a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian etc etc as the case at present.
