It is a shame that the Government led by an intellectual like Budhdhadev Babu has failed to contain the incidents at Nandigram. If his own cadres are taking the law in their own hands and making hundreds homeless, they should be sternly dealt with. Else, the Centre should clamp President's Rule in the State. = Tapan Chakraborty, Hyderabad

Dear Friend,

Let me ask you the same question? What the Goverment was doing for the last 11 months to break the so called illegal BPUC? It is the Gvernments duty to see what is legal or iilegal and take appropriate steps to rectify the situation. If a situation is going out of control, then it is the Goverment who is to blame not the BPUC? Even in Gujarat, the journalist were not beaten and allowed to enter into any zone and therefore compare the scenarion of Nandigram, a place in independent India, where everything is blocked no one is allowed, no one knows how many deaths have occured. I also aks the Media, specially one 24X7 hours chanell who acts on a jet speed if they see anything is happening in BJP ruled state followed by discussions, debate and so on and so on. Wher is Me. Barkha Dutt, is she not jolted with so many deaths? Or she is not interested since did not happen in BJP ruled state. India media biased and totally hypocrit.

Media cannot defame the Left. It will never control politics. Because the Left's strength in Indian politics. Media wasted their a lot of time in Presidential Elections.

Those caught in Egra (Sukur Ali and Tapan Ghosh) were actually involved in the Chhoto Angaria massacre six years back. The two were shown as absconders in CBI records. Seven persons were allegedly burnt to death at Chhoto Angaria %u2014 in West Midnapore %u2014 in 2001.

It is really too dirty and brutal.

30 years before CPM came to power by snatching the land from the landlords, and giving them to the farmers. That was the compelling reason for their winning polls.

Now they have changed with time. After crushing the industrial inrastructure of the states, resulting in unemployment and urban proverty they realised, it is high time to turn toards industrialization, again for the compelling reasons for winning polls, they have decided to snatch away the same land from the poor farmers which they had given 30 years ago. And i fell it is absolutely fair. In communist politics and methods all factors of productions are state property, so what is the wrong in CPM giving away and taking away lad from poor farmers? So what they die of hunger, and perish away. The comrade has to survive, the party is more important that the Govt. The communist never expected common mass to think with their own brains, they are supposed to be dictated by the party dictat. What the hell? What happened to the Bengalis after 30 years, why they are so upset with the same bunch who have been providing them the opium of middle class half-backed intellectualism?

Begaleese are hypocrats, hope they realize that before they are not in a condition to realize.

If thats the reason for your support, why not take over land in cities and give it to the industry. Afterall Kolkata is a big city and making few hundred middle-class people homeless would be a lesser sin than making few thousand villagers homeless as well as jobless.

Mamta take off please!
by Biren Mukherjee on Nov 11, 2007 05:54 AM  | Hide replies

When every other state in the country is trying to continue their developmental activities, WB is back-tracking. For nearly 20yrs, there was no industrial development and Mamta was still active. Now Budhhadeb Babu is making all efforts to bring the wave of industrial development and unfortunately Mamta is still active against that. I never heard about any developmental plan that Mamta has in her campaigning agenda. Yes we want a change but who will bring that? WB will never ever accept Mamta as CM. A person with such unstable makeover can do no good to the state. BJP is untouchable in WB and Congress has no unity in the state. In whatever the case, we want a leader who can lead the state from the frontline. I agree that WB is now an unmatched character among the existing states. Unfortunately a state which has lot of potential is now at the mercy of crooks.

Mamata at her best

Everyone seems to abuse CPI(M) giving Mamata recluse. The situation closely resembles Godhra incident. You have 50 karsevaks burnt down in a closed compartment and then you have the rampage which will stay ever as a black spot in Indian History. So, now the question raised was why the rampage is being given preference to the burning down of the kar sevaks. Both are equally heinous, but the later gets priority b coz it involves minority.

In Nandigram, the situation is similar. Mamata as lot of people from other states might now know is known for pulling out drama. She has earlier to her credit Keshpur where she initiated similar kind of violence. An umbrella organization called "Bhoomi Ucched Committe" is formed made up of Mamata's supporters, Naxalites, and some Islamist outfit. They grow powerful and are able to kick off several CPI(M) supporters for months. Nobody made a big deal out of that. Now, govt. was in trouble, couldn't risk another police raid after the previous massacre. With their fate hanging in limbo, these guys have taken up arms and recaptured their Ilaka. That's the story.

Who is to Blame? Both Mamata and messed up CPI(M) govt. Politicians like Mamata Banerjee should be thrown to the sea. They only incite violence and make political gains out of it.

The real story will never be told. Why is the state scared to allow any one to enter SINGUR or Nandigram. The fact remains that in Singur CPI(M) people in mask and in police uniform attacked children and women. CPIM Supporters as in all govt office and factories worked overtime informing about their neighbours to the party so that the neighbours can be tortured by by party goons and creating insecurity.People of Singur did not want to part with their fertile land .CPI(M) supporters are not believed. When Lakhsman Seth put notice of land grab in Nandigram the CPIM split and so those who were suspected were scared and left nandigram ,they were not attacked untill the brutal massacare conducted by CPIM.

How many supporters of CPI(M) are kicked off? Can you reveal the definite number? There are several lies like Maoists, land-mine, etc. etc. to show some excuse for this offensive act. Nandigram was a very strong place of CPI(M) activity even less than one year ago.

hey MR ABC XYZ, you get some help from CPIM? do you?are you a CPIM activist? it shows - for the last thirty years CPIM is runing the state of begal and now it has reached its climx- the last resort killing people if they do not follow? Tell me do you support this killing? Do you support the scenario- people trying to get back to their home and being killed by CPIM hooligans? These things CPIM has done in the past also in the time of elections but they have not come up because the media was not so much infiltrated at that point of time.YOu might be a person who due to you activities in the CPIM party is availing good life style in BEngal- but bengal industrially has been ruined by these people during their tenure. NOW they want to get into industrialisation. 30 years back they were wrong in evicting industrialism , now they are also wrong in adpoting the way to get back to industrialisation also. Cant you see that ALL the parties are trying to make their life by killing people of bengal- directly by bullets , indirectly by bandhs

Good that the Bengali intellects are finally taking stand against the Communists. All these years they have enjoyed patronage from them and in return gave them the support, they don't deserve. We know Naxals derived their strengths from the Bengali intellects, they supporter for anything Chinese,Russian and anti-American. They thought globalization and economic liberalization is curse on our civilization. Let the good sense prevails among them
