When you read the front page, the headline says: 'PAK EX-MINISTER "SAYS" MANEKSHAW SOLD WAR PLANS'. Now read here, the word "SAYS", suddenly changes into "IMPLIES'. Either rediff editors do not know English or they would stoop how so ever low to create a sensational story.
Field Marshal is India's most loved officer. It is a pity the politicians of Pakistan have no other issue to address than India, when their borders are burning. They keep the wounds of enmity unhealed for their selfish motives. Instead of building bridges they blast. They have sold their country to imperialists. The leadership is decided not by the people but by their masters. Now this wolf is howling for its share of meat.

He is not Sam - as in Uncle Sam - He is Gen Manekshaw - u r bent on insulting and inviting controversy which is fine, but treat someone who has been lauded so much for his work with some respect.

by daimavane on May 08, 2007 04:53 AM
well, even Gandhi has done bad deeds and a worst side of a human being. you need to ask Kasturiba about that side :) Has manekshaw confessed? So try to evaluate when someone says something.. there may be truth in that . Only idiots will take austere line as yourself.

There is nothing austere about respecting someone like Gen Manekshaw. Irrespective of his guilt or the lack of it (same goes with Gandhiji) - one would expect certain sensitivity about disrespecting elders and folks whom others revere - the rest of the indians. But hey, cant expect sensitivity from u. You talk coz, you have the freedom to, the freedom that gandhiji and Gen Manekshaw provided. Hell, Why am i even explaining it to u. Duh!

Dear Daimavane,Though its below my dignity to even reply your to post,I cant resist from doing so. I dont know whether you are an Indian or for that matter somebody with a sane mind, but I do know that hate mongers like you dont have a place in a civilised society. You are not even fit to clean the Field Marshal's shoes & you have the adaucity to refer him as Sam. Please dont think that everyone is like you to do anything for money. You are not even capable of understanding the meaning of the words like "Integrity of a Soldier" or "Loyality towards one's Nation." Please kindly Shut up & Get lost. - Ex Major of INDIAN ARMY.

I think either you are a ABCD or a Firangi moron who does not know anything about India or its culture. If you guys are good enough why do you wanna kiss India's butt. Why can't you involve your own guys to run NASA. Problem with you guys is you spend too much time on Baseball, basketball and NFL eat all the Fatty foods available on earth become like football and walk like buldozers. Your problem is you do not know who your dad is, you mother was sick with you because you hated her boyfried and probably you wanted to have an affair with the lady in the foster home you grew and was rendered homeless. You grew sick of everything because you manager did not allow you to snort coke at work. You are Mad Maniac Sucker

this is why india is such an under acheived country.. Manekshaw won a war with a country that was divided into two pieces 1000 miles apart from each other. that is not even 1/5 of India. If he did not win the war convincingly , he should be ashamed of himself.. Did Manekshaw win a war with china? With USA? With Russia? Stupid desi idots! You all revere incompetency... Every time India launches Agni you all will be ecstatic.. bcos that's you intellect.. you will never realizse that china has launched 100 of of far superior missles

On the same token, the next general who wins a war with Bhutan will be revered by you all above manekshaw! Low lifes!

Hey, It seems you are not aware of the achievments of Indians to the world History, please update yourself. Also, please give respect to a person. Prefix a appropriate title to his name. So now on call Him "Gen. Manekshaw". The difficult part in 1971 war was India had to fight on two fronts. Thats not easy. Seating at home and commenting on somebody's achievment is so easy. You are talking about war with China/USA/Russia. I would like to refresh your memory, India or Indians have never attacked any country. Its always different communties or countries were attracted towards India, for so many reasons. though we lost against a China, but we took it as a leason. As far as comparing Technology with China, they went republic in the year 1912, thats almost 38 years before us. So they have the advantage. We admit, we lack in professionalism. but we are never the less. Also I would suggest you be a Proud Indian.
How can you justify printing this stupid allegation about one of the finest general India ever had. REDIFF should be tried for TREASON for printing such lousy trash.
This is increasingly becoming very typical of Rediff.. The headline says Pak ex-Minister says.. Inside the page title says: Pak ex-Minister claims and the actual news item contains Pak ex-Minister implies.. Though here it is clear that the description fits only Sam Manekshaw, but please Rediff refrain from making such misleading titles and headlines..

You have english troubles.. "implies" means inference.. an indirect reference.. which is clear in the messagage. you're just another another confused desi :)
RE:So very Rediff like
by Shalin Shroff on May 08, 2007 05:03 AM
thankyou very much.. that was precisely my point.. there is some difference between indirect reference and direct reference which i wanted to bring out..
RE:So very Rediff like
by Arul Pradeep on May 08, 2007 05:04 AM
And pray who u r - apparently, u arent close to being an Indian. He has english troubles, but looks like ur middlename is trouble and the surname - well... do u have one?
RE:So very Rediff like
by daimavane on May 08, 2007 05:17 AM
Dey sori naye.. This is the typical attitude of opinionated north indians.. They live in a shell and think what applies to them applies to all of india..

come to the point. don't divert the matter to the corner. what is the problem with the name. you argue based on sense not color

tHIS IS THE NATURE OF ALL MEDIA ARE DOING. TWISTING WORDS TO ATTRACT PEOPLE AND MOSTLY BLAME INDIANS.

In a nutshell , there nothing incorrect about the way rediff has presented the topic. If you do not think so , that's either becos of your poor english or your lower intellect.
RE:So very Rediff like
by Shalin Shroff on May 08, 2007 05:24 AM
But ofcourse how can a person of such high intellect as yours be expected to spend a few seconds on what i originally wrote and fully comprehend the meaning. What i essentially said was that there is a difference between implying and saying.. from the former one can retract his statement. however, there was no doubt in this case.. but it can be misleading at times.. duh!!
RE:So very Rediff like
by Shalin Shroff on May 08, 2007 05:34 AM
yawn! its becoming boring to argue with you.. ImuggedBaronTenTimes: 1-0 Desis Happy!! no point in arguing over such trivial matters.. go, get your high point for the day..
I guess you guys must not putting up such "news" if i may call them so, on the internet. what is the locus standi of this guy who alleges such a thing against the most decorated guy of the indian army? it has become a fashion today to talk stuff like this, decades after the supposed happening. was this guy dumb so long? i beg the press not to bring out such news in order that the guys who want to make such news will never find it more interesting
