President's Message on republic day
by Anilkumar Gundurao on Jan 26, 2007 02:22 AM

Only true patriot can deliver this kind of message. Highly inspiring and energetic. A percentage of his zeal in our politician is enough to change millions of life. Hope this gives hopeless majority of politicians a vision to do their bit to support youth and deliver on this message. Whatever happens President Kalam's name will be written into the history alongside Radhakrishnan and Babu Rajendra Prasad. Unlike other president's he has been prolific in inspiring the childern of this country. I bow my head to you and Thanks you sir !!!

Happy Republic Day
by ABHISHEK GUPTA on Jan 26, 2007 12:14 AM

Surely magnificent and inspiring speech from such a personality who is unknown to none. Well the need to arouse the feeling to do something for our country is quintessential specially when India is young. Youth of present generation are certainly more focussed and well equipped with energy and courage to bring the changes. I hope politics is one area where there is time for young generation to enter fully and change the present label that politics has. Thanks for this speech and i request you to talk to public throght media more often. we need your guidance.
Vande Mataram...

Reach to the unreached: A fashion table talk.
by santikumar ghosh on Jan 25, 2007 11:25 PM | Hide replies

Starting from my childhood as a school student to today as a senior Professor of mathematics at the age of 62 years in every evening prior to republic day I have been listening the same old recorded tape of fashion table talks:x cannot be tolerated , where x is a random varible, for some president's speach x = poverty, for some one x = illiteracy, for the other x = economic disparity,.......this time x = cruelty and so on may be next time x will be equal to vulgarity.
But if you do the micro-analysis, you will observe that every thing hon'ble presidents
mentioned 'cannot be tolerated' is 'getting tolerated' by our Indian people smoothly ,
systematically and consistently.Here is also
we have unity in diversities. I remember,
when I was a research scholar in IIT Bombay
in 1970, one the then Lecturer ,now he is
alive as a retired Professor who commented
as I quote here 'India is great country
where all sorts inconsistent things are going on consistently'.
Why and how we people are tolerating these?
In this regard also I remember one statement
of one Professor of NCERT when we were in
Iraq in foreign teaching assignments in
Iraqi University of Sulaimaniyah.
There then two events occurred simultaneously:(i)One Iraqi administrative staff misbehaved with an American lecturer of English, he immediately slapped the administrative staff,
and(ii)Two young indian cyclists were on world tour by bi-cycles were severely beaten(they got unconcious and got back sense after hospital treatment) by one iraqi truck driver in
Basrah(Iraqi Town), when they approached
to our Indian Consulate and complained ,
our great Indian officers there blamed
our indian cyclists rather than complaining
to the iraqi authority.
I asked our Indian NCERT Professor,'Why it
is so?' What was his then reply, you know.
This is the cult of tolerance! You don't know ,'We are the herbingers of Non-violence'! We have the great river ganges, every day
we take bath in the holy water of it and
cool down our mind and develop tolerance
and pratice it.
'So how long we tolerate this type of untolerable speach', I ask myself and get
the answer 'Don't worry the holy water
also slowly and steadily getting impured
by surrounding pollutions'.
Then what?
I have got the answer!!!
Now the value of x defined above will
be taken as'impurity' i.e. x = impurity
cannot be tolerated'in President's speach
of that time or this message will be
treated as an 'abuse' by the message editor
of rediff!!!!!!!Ha!HA!.....HA'.....
'TOLERANCE',the greatest word of
English vocabulory!Enjoy it.

Prof. S. K. Ghosh,Hyderabad.

Every body can help nation by doing sth which he is capable of. Let me take an example.

Recentely our so called honourable HRD minister applied OBC reservation. Everybody knows that this is wrong decision and has been taken just for political gain. But only arjun singh is not responsible for that. professor community of all premire institution of india like IIT and IIM is equally responsibe without whom consent it wouldn't have been implemented. I blame professors of IIT and IIM more than that of arjun singh bcoz u can not accept good move from corrupt politician but u can expect good move from intellectuals of india.

Let me explain how they could have helped in forcing back arjun singh. AIIMS students and professors forced arjun singh to reconsider his decision and drasticaly increase seats. and not a single institution from all IIT and IIM come forward to oppose this move. when few medical institutes of delhi forced HRD minister to change the decision u can imagine what would have happend when all IIT , IIM and premire medical instititions would have come forward and openly opposed the move. I am sure arjun singh would have to be forced to revert the decision. In this way professors of our premire institution could have helped the country.

But they didn't do that. they need their job security. directors of IIT and IIM want to retain their post or gain second term so they can not oppose the politicians. but they are responbile in application of wrong law.

professors like u and almost all professors of india premire institution just criticize the system. they forget that they are also part of system and have some responsibility. if they can not carry on their responsibilities how can they expect that ppl responsible for other portion of system do their responsibilities. it is not going to happen in this way. Every body has to understand the responsibility and do their part rather on criticize the whole system

I know how the IIT's behaviour will be... but ur a rare case and worst citizen of India...

I know there are cheap politics going on in IIT's and IIM's on the name of research. they publish papers just bcoz of improving his profile and get project anyhow and make money by doing cheating in the projects. the very same professor when they travel by indian railway , start criticizing the railway system enumerating his gud railway experience in foreign trips.

when these professors can not do their job honestly how can they expect employee of indian railway to do their work honestly. they think that they had done Ph.D and that's enough. no more responsibility as a citizen of india. but since they are professor they shud be provided all facilities.

Mr. professor, whatever u have said, may be correct but the act of disrespect that u have shown to our greatest president by writing the message in such derogative way is not expected from any qualified person. u don't deserve to hold a respected post of professor, who's job is to inculcate good values in the younger generation. I seriously doubt that u can generate any sort of good values.

Even if there are chronic deep rooted problems in our country but Dr. A P J Kalam is not responsible for that. He did everything in his life for his nation that he could do. Now he is doing his best as a president of india. what else u can expect from a president having no power. the only thing he can do is to create zeal, passion and desire in his countrymen. that's what he is doing.

do u think it is just a small thing or just funny talk. life of a number or great ppl have changed in a moment by getting a right vision. a vision makes ppl successful in life.

professors like u think that they have done a great favour to country by being a professor. but the fact is that they are doing just their job. they expect great facilities from our system, and after failing to get supreme level of facility they started criticizing the country. they compare efficieny and service of our system with foreign system.

definately there are enumerable drawbacks in our system. but the bottomline is that they themself do nothing toward improving that. tell me a single act that u have done in ur life with a sole motive of developing the country in stead of taking classes. by taking classes or doing research u r doing ur job and earning money... nothing more than that.

HAVE U DONE ANYTHING IN UR LIFE WITH A MOTIVE OF DEVELOPING COUNTRY.

What an inspiring speech....You can imagine the intensity of the man just reading his speech....I can't imagine how it is to hear it.......I request him to accept a second term on behalf of India.....He will be beacon of India's transformation which is not a probability anymore,,,but a striking truth.....I hope the reason for not accepting a second term is petty politics ( Please do read between the lines)

We need
by udai CHAKRABORTY on Jan 25, 2007 11:23 PM

I wish this great man to talk to us the ordinary citizens frequently, we those have to stand in queue for everything from Petrol to Cinema Hall, we who have to just survive in job, because we know dignity is not found everywhere. We need him more because we want him to say quit where there is no dignity because we also know if one's will power is strong, mental strength is strong and one who does not comprosise or adjust himself against the core values, can fulfill one's desire. We know. But we need to be reminded again and again till our knowing turns to belief. So we need him to talk to us more frequently.

Thanks, Sir Thanks.
