You don't get it. Rediff deliberately opens up the comments section on every freakin' article to increase their TRP ratings. Note : Most online media sites have a paper trail , i.e paper publication, rediff doesn't. The expats and others start their tirade. They enjoy the game and gets enormous hits. Win-Win for rediff.
Hey rediff, pls come up with a blog section (rss feeds would be nice) with del.ico.us,digg,red-dit. gotta have more hits, right ?

Sad story.......it could happen to anyone in US
by crazyforsense on Dec 15, 2007 02:23 AM  | Hide replies

I feel really sad for the 2 students & their family and friends.

Personally I face this dilemma everyday.

US: Job is good, pay is good, most people are polite and good.....however there are way too many guns and all it takes is a few culprits to use those guns. And guns are very easy to find here.

India: I imagine the gun influence is less, but people are crazy divided on the lines of religion, caste etc. Rediff message-boards are a good reflection of the state of Indian minds.

So my lesson learnt - there is no safe place. There is luck involved everywhere, be good and do good.

2 Indian students murdered in US
by chander thakur on Dec 15, 2007 02:15 AM  | Hide replies

Its tough to imagine what their families going through.
Its difficult to assess or to make a conclusion what went wrong.

I only request all indian students persuing higher studies in USA, just dont overlook the incidents happening around you or anyother universities in USA.

I dont wanna suggest anything about how to live or study, everyone knows WHAT TO DO.
just careful.......we are not here in this country to DIE.
Please spread the news to all indian student associations.

Not harsh, but stupid
by dip dutt on Dec 15, 2007 02:01 AM | Hide replies

Pls do not make hasty comments..
You are commenting on two parameters-their earnings and the house rent.. Each of us have our own compulsions.. Do you know theirs?
-Do you know their liabilities?
-Do they need to send money to India? Maybe for their widow mother? Or for an ailing sister??
-Do you know if insurance covered the wife's pregnancy? How much they had to shell out??

Without the details, the comment is not only harsh, but stupid..

But i can proudly say, I am an indian living in indian society with people who cares about others emergencies. This differs us from forigners. We always help together when we in trouble.
But i am very sorry about the families of victims, who lost their lives on the way to fulfil their dreams.

We need to condemn this kind of things.

Lets come together to tribute their lifes..

an Indian

But i am also wondering about rediff editorial on this passage caring about the text msg provider.. hope they wil educate the concern person....

sad incident
by Nitin Nelapati on Dec 15, 2007 01:59 AM  | Hide replies

this is a very sad and unfortunate incident...may GOD give strength to the family
please refrain from jumping to conclusions that this was done by black students...Louisiana is rife with racism and this incident could have been racially motivated and just as probable that a white person might have committed this crime...I hate that just because a few unfortunate incidents have involved black men, everybody jumps at the conclusion that any crime must have been committed by a black person
