India - The largest casiest and racist society
by Ajay Kumar on Dec 01, 2007 02:12 PM  | Hide replies

It is proved that India is the largest casiest and racist society in the world and leaders of polical parties are ensuring this staus to remain.
Just tell me is there any cast called MOCHI? Its a profession all these parties should know. Perhaps they know it but gaining some political mileage. Agaist whom I don't know.
Much ado about nothing.

Well, mochi, baniya, naayi.. they are part of profession and caste as well. In India we dont differentiate anything. This is one of the few countries always become emotional on issues. If cricketer dont play well, attack their home. If movies show some funny thing, attack theaters, actors, directors and ban the movie. If someone make fun of a politician attack him. If somebody draw some paint, it will objectionable to somebody and attack him. Maturity is distant dream in India.

ban on films

Dear politicians, first take an oath to remove the cast system in India. All human are equal in the eyes of God. Then who are we to distinguish between ourselves? Rather than trying to eradicate this social menace from the society, the ploticians are playing politics. This is the India where a small boy is badly beaten for touching his teacher's byke. So many other examples of untouchability are there in this land. I have come across people who was astonished at my shaking his hands and told that I was one of those people who shaked his hands, otherwise others (so-called upper castes) like to keep themselves away from him and such other people of his cast for being dalits.

charity begins at home.. first they should stop viewing themselves as labeled by that caste/profession only then others will stop making that association.. if you would register yourself as that and also tattoo on your forehead by that name (by taking reservation and registering yourself as 'belonging' to that 'mochi' caste) how do you expect everyone else to forget that. who gives you the birth right to be the whole and sole owner of that profession.. its a competition world remember.. and nobody stops them from being a sunar.. just that they may not have so much money at that time.. so what they can start whenever they have and when they can learn the art.

why are you calling them dalit and mochi? arent you generating the problem out of the blue? isnt mochi a profession isnt sunar a profession? isnt gold considered more expensive? where does it say about anyone in particular it is just about a profession its like saying that legend about a woodcutter (if thats not derogatory) meeting the god of waters/sea and asking for his iron axe instead of gold/silver ones and getting rewarded by all three.. is that also costist?

defenitely derogatory
by VIPUL MATHUR on Dec 01, 2007 01:46 PM  | Hide replies

It is derogatory in every sense - why Mochi thinks himself Sunar - becuase Caste Muchi is below that of Sunar in the current Hindu system.
The word mochi is not bad but it is the comparison which is derogatory.
If the song is played and not stopped it can no be an excuse for it being not derogatory - why banking on wague excuses.
Objection on using Caste words can not be termed as pressure on liberty on creative writing and expression. One can not write whatever he thinks is correct or otherwise.
All are - BELAGAM GHODE and CHIKNE GHADE, as there is no effective controlling mechanism to check their work.
WHY AT ALL TO USE CASTE WORDS. IS HIS DICTIONERY REVOLVES JUST AROUND USING CASTE WORDS.
Rediff please forward this messsage to Piyush Mishra.
Thanks

isnt gold more expensive than leather? its like comparing two axe one of gold other of iron. it is not linked with any person in particular but just to a profession.. its like saying that a peon becomes the manager due to red tapism.. is that castist? what is a caste word? isnt that something you have created in your mind? why to link a profession with some family? doesnt every leatherman (mochi) want to become a sunar (goldsmith) as much as everyone wants to wear gold than iron.

it seems that you are true follower of mayawati. i cant under stand why this silly system of caste has been made why every one is not only a human. you will find many comparision in many songs why every body has choosen only this one. it is shame on us that we are still fighting for cast, land and water where the world is winning new frontiers in science and technology ever day. shame on your thoughts and on every one who think like that.

Is it something wrong in following Mayawati ? ( so you are in correct in the first place". If you follow Advani/Modi and smeone else follow Mayawati.. does it make you correct ??

Rule number 1 of writing blogs... never go personal. Use your logic and skills to express yourself.

BTW:- Use of Advani/Modi is just of expression.

whatz the big deal about a name???
by hindu indian on Dec 01, 2007 01:42 PM  | Hide replies

if "mochi" shud not be called a " mochi" then what shud they b called???? can someone please inform me? who says the word mochi is derogatory and, the word engineer and doctor is not. that is the problem with these people, they do not have dignity of labour, and the politicians have no better work. if people dont want to be identified as sc/st/muslims/obc/mbc, then why do they keep fighting for reservations on this basis. why do they so proudly fill on their appliations forms " caste" , but, when we call them by that then they hit the roof. i dont find it derogatory if someone calls me a refugee(kashmiri pandits are one, anyways). what crap.and this country is full of idiots who make a big hue and cry about such trivial matters.

Mr.Hindu Indian,
In INDIA, identifying or distinguishing anybody with caste or some trade names are treated as Abuse. As the inferiority complex comes into picture. an SC , ST or Mochi, Lohar, BANGI , dont like to called in their caste names.

This caste names they want to use only for the reservation and benefits from government. There are many who use even false surnames out of their states.

one of the most found examples are NAIR surname from Kerala, each and every one you find this surnames, where as actually many of them are Schedule Castes.

No work is inferior to others. But the quality of expertise required is differnt. the respect for each trade is differnt.

it is like a White collar job compared to Blue collar job.
Working in office considered more prestigious than working on the shopfloor irrespective of the fact that, the income to organisation is from the blue collar jobs.
