A school based on Merit
by Venkatesh J Iyer on May 26, 2006 02:53 PM

Merit,

The bad word of Indian Politics would be soon destroyed by Caste criterions.

It would be fine if Manmohan Singh and his likes do not mark this particular school for Quotas and restrictions.

Instead of caste based seat offered in such institutions Merit based irrespective of cast considerations seat are provided then only we can see an enlightened bright future for science and innovation in our county.

Jai Hind

I wonder
by bioteckindia on May 26, 2006 02:51 PM

It is good some this school has performed well.
We believe nothing is perfect, always strive for perfection. seeing these results, this is proved wrong.
If it is true then these perfect students would definitely get noble prizes. If not there is some thing wrong in our exam system

AJ... you're entitled to your opinion. Fine.

Do you know that students come to DAV from DPS? Not the other way around. Everyone has their own ranking system. Rediff is not an ultimate ranker. Different ranking systems rank differently. Do you think that the person who scored #1 in the IIT entrance exam is really #1? Look at cricket rankings. So many rankings ... LG-ICC, CEAT, PWC, etc... different

So, stop being a sore loser. If you're from the North and can't accept the fact that a school in the South has been praised, you need a good education. There is no point having an internal divide in the country.

It's not a matter of appreciating or not appreciating. An article which claims that it has found the best school should be well-researched. DPS, R.K. Puram (Delhi) also produces many IIT students every year. Why should it not be the best school? There would be many schools I don't even know about. My only question was and is: "Did the writer put in the effort of finding out about other schools or not?" If not, then superlatives like "best" etc. should not be used. Just citing the example of one school would be unfair to many other schools which are doing a great job.

Hi AJ,

Its not about producing IIT students alone. The statistics talk about many other factors like pass percentage, no. of students over 95% and so on. And DAVians have been invited to the PM's office to witness the Republic Day Parade. So I guess this news is definitely believable. Whether you believe it or not depends on whether you WANT to believe it or not. One can choose to be skeptical until he is presented with evidence by the CBSE itself.

Chennai schools in CBSE
by AJ on May 26, 2006 02:27 PM  | Hide replies

Has the fact that a student on average finds it easier to score higher marks in CBSE in Chennai region been taken into account? Just because other Boards are more stringent doesn't mean Chennai is better. Did the author look into this aspect before declaring the school to be the best in the country?

You;'re talking about the state baordl. What do you mean CBSE, Chennai region? Do you even know what CBSE stands for?

CENTRAL BOARD of Secondary Education.

Do you know what Central means?

It is easier for the Chennai students to score more because they are better. Plain simple.

Hi Rahul,

I went through the article many times and I couldnt find anything that said DAV has secured the top mark this year. Please go through the article carefully. Secondly the emphasis was more on the overall academic performance of all the students, the total pass percentage, the percentage of students over 95% and so on. Nothing is baseless about this.

Absolutely baseless report!!!!
by Rahul on May 26, 2006 02:19 PM  | Hide replies

The report you have published is absolutely wrong!the first mark in india is 488 out of 500 (97.6%) and it has been secured by 2 people-Nivedita Bhaskar of P.S. Senior Secondary School and Suman Pravagiri
of Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, both from Chennai. Other star performers include Atulya.Y and
Anirudh Ragavendra of DAV Gopalapuram, S. Swarun Kumar and Deepan Palguna of P.S.Senior, all of them scoring 487 in the Science stream. Pls do not publish reports without carrying out the research in deep. Accordingly I would request you to pls modify the report and put the correct one....

Hey Rahul,

Read the report properly. No where has it been mentioned that 487 is the highest CBSE mark.

Great effort behind these achievements
by Mahanthesh on May 26, 2006 02:18 PM

I like to congratulate all those who had scored such a great score.

But i also like to tell pro-reservation friends to look into this article. Suppose one of these students miss out a good seat at good college due to reservation how actually he/she feels which will hinder his and country growth.
