old arjun singh with old sordid political ideas to devide student community ,which has no existence in today's india
by polisetti venkanna naidu on May 09, 2006 09:52 AM

now india is on the brim of devolopement.there are lots of job opportunities to every one regardless of caste and religion, which cause competetive spirit in every one.so it is better not to introduce reservations in higher institutitons and donot hamper the devolopement of country.the reservations shold be only on the merit basis.

Mental state and its strength varies area of subject wise. It is a social problem. Mr. Arjun singh knows much better than many who are educated in business, life sciences, mathematics. Can you remove the dirt of society, poverty, dirt of corruption, dirt of illiteracy. Once in and before seventies many castes were directly or indirectly are discouraged for studies.
Who is lowering the education standards? Have seen standards in private professional colleges? Once government colleges were having good standards. AP was having reservation. Now government teachers from well qualified, came out of competitive examinations. But what is standard in those institutions?
Those who got ranks and joined from open quota are getting failed. There many people who came on reservations having average marks at SSC and 2 standard they had distinction in B.Tech and MBBS. Reservation is chance for OBCs to exert and explore their capabilities. If reservations are not there many can enter from back door by getting leaked papers or some means. Put minimum standard IIM and IIT for OBCs and avail their right to have education. Persons capabilities change time to time subject to subject , year to year. There are people who are getting high mark even OBC quota. By having quota education will not become low standard. With OBCs there is huge competition.
It is not right abuse a senior citizen for own reasons.

The politicians should be made to go to hospitals, for their treatment, where doctors who were admited under reservation quota have been employed, and not waste tax payer money in going abroad for their medical check up.

Arjun Singh should sit at home
by Prasad Krishnan on May 09, 2006 05:17 AM  | Hide replies

Hi,
the article is very relevant taking into consideration the present education scenario in India. We as a nation is slowly being recognized for the high quality technical and managerial expertise. But the old guys like Arjun Singh who should sit at hoem and do Ram Nam japa is going to make the life hell for enthusiastic young men and women. MERIT the Merit. Thats why US and other Western nations are going up. If these geriatrics continue in our politics India will soon be more underdeveloped.

May these oldies be given 'Golden Handshake' from Indian politrics.

Is " Oldies sitting Home a solution". The Young Leader( may be tomorrow PM) was telling us that " Both the sides( For and against reservations have valid points).

So where does that question of OLDIES come? It is mindset. This young Leader also enjoyed reservation of different type. He obtained education from froreign because he had money power and not the intellect.

We should oppose all type of reservation..

Stop quota atleast in professional colleges
by Mithuna Urs on May 09, 2006 04:03 AM

India is begining to wake up and started showing the world of its intellectual prowess just recently. We did have the best education system in the whole world from the historical periods. But it has already been diluted by the capitation and business minded so called educationalists. In spite of this india's generation X has shown the world that still they are the best whether it is medicine or IT or engineering. India is begining to see itself in the league of being a superpower just recently.
Now this idiotic decision to introduce quota in some of the esteemed institutions would drag down the dreams of millions of indians who want to see india as a superpower.
Its pity that this is happening in the regime of one of the most educated and futuristic PM Mr Manmohan singh. If there is any goodness left in these sucking!!! politicians at least should make up their mind to stop this quota in professional colleges.

Are the students from lower castes are they afraid of competition? Stop cribbing, if you are worth prove it!!
It was the basic education which Dr.Ambedkar wanted his caste men to get not everything. more over this system keeps the caste system alive. DO they want it

I agree with the author and would like to bring to the view of the readers that reservation is an evil in the society. The ministry should look at working at the grass root level to improve and ensure education is mandatory for all the people upto a certain level. This level can be raised over a certain time frame. Once people are qualified in the basic sense they can move up the education system based on the individuals hard work. This is very helpful to the country as a whole as it brings out people who are the best and make people work towards their success which in turn helps the nation.
Though the results of such an effort is not seen immediately but surely across generations. The ministry is only trying to create issues and halt the overall progress of the country by giving in to reservations, which in my opinion must be rejected.

OBC reservations
by Karthik on May 09, 2006 01:30 AM

A question to Raja Shambarkar....it would have been intelligent on your part if you had cared to explain in a crisp summary about those Articles in our Constitution you mention about. Probably, you were a beneficiary of reservation too and in pursuit of your mediocre education, you had chosen to omit that part of your education in choice!!

Reservations

The 50% reservations should be set for Ministers/MPs/MLAs first. IF this model works fine for say 25-30 years, then it should be implemented for education/jobs. How come all PMs of India, in the past 60 years are from Forward caste? How about rotation of allowing SC PM from 2008-2013, ST PM from 2013-2018, BC PM from 2018-2028, Muslim PM from 2028-2033 and Open PM from 2033-2038 then repeat the cycle. May be not a bad idea. Any comments?

Regarding the quata system
by mansi agrawal on May 08, 2006 08:39 PM

Tha quota system should not be entertained at any cost as it will destroy the future of students studying hard throughout the year.Besides this the communities for which this system is going to be introduced will hamper there growth and chances to grow.
