This is the problem with our country men, when someone is doing good for the country we bring our values, religion and other ethics. What is the problem with Sania's dress code? Should we be bothered that is it her short skirt which is distracting attention or should we look into the game. No religion in books would stop anyone to do good for the nation,it is people who draws line into their thinking.
I read more than a dozen comments and what I fail to understand here is that.. is Sania..only Muslim who is wearing short skirts in India?? You can find dozens of muslim females in Bollywood and galmour industry and they wear all skimpy clothes. I have little or no knowlegde about Islam but what i understand is any religion is a path to reach God..What to wear & what to eat are personal preference and can not be forced onto anyone..Let the little girl alone.. she is not harming anyone..only bringing glory & fame back to India for which we all have waited & tried too. May God bless her..My best wishes with the sports person she is becoz I dont know her beyond that and who anyways is interested.
What does Mr. Shenoy want to say ? He seems to speak from both sides. If Sania plays in some modest attire and her game suffers, she might as well stop playing ; is she going to get sponsors then ? No point in playing on the international circuit just for the 'love of the game'.
We don't need any culture cops be it Maulvis or VHP or Shiva Sena telling us what to where etc... the only is stop a handful of people deciding and dictating the vast majority what is best for them.
Not that I know too much on relegion, but i believe all it tries to propogate is be good to everyone. Has Sania no right to be good to herself i.e. she loves the game and is trying her best to reach her real potential and in the process if she is having to wear things that help her do so, what wrong is she doing. I wonder even if she wears "an acceptable Dress" there will be no "men" who will get ideas. Let the kid be and play her game and live life. Would you want her to wear a hijab and kill herself, is That Relegion?
hi, i would like to add y so much importance is given to the maulvi's objection , when we all know that he is still living in some well denying to come out of it. A person should see the big picture & that guy should see , if he can ( which he isnt), that this young lady is representing india on a world front should appriciate that instead of making fuss about the dress. More over i believe its more important to understand the motive behind the choice & options left to Sania, before just condeming the dress . And i watch tennis to watch the game & not the legs of women which i think all the serious fans do .So its the game & not the dress that is important .
I would like the clerics who have raised this issue to clarify a simple question.
When the country is at war as we had seen Kargil, we look at the soldiers who capture strategic points with gratitude and feel proud as well. No Indian for that matter no other country men would view or critise their soldiers dress code rather than appreciating their courage and will.
Today sports has also got equal accliam and patriotism. It depends on how you view the dress code of Sania Mirza. A corrupt mind would always see the dress code but for a true lover of sports the dress code would be invisible against the back drop of a dextrous play. So I leave it to the clerics to have poitive thinking of the game.
The so many people on this board who pass moral judgement on every single thing should seriously consider buying an island and moving there...it does not work in an actual country with laws based on humanity and logic..and not on some obsolete text..sue me if you like..
