A blood boiler of an article!

Every true Indian should read this and take action.

You NRIs and PIOs in the US...its time you got your act together and did something for your motherland. Strengthen your lobby and pressurise Uncle Sam to lay off!

Dominance
by Nayagan on Oct 30, 2004 05:48 PM

The European White World had always dominated the world the last 2000+ years and looks like they're not in any mood to relinquish their influence around the world any time soon. First of all why beg US for technology when we can privatise and develop a better technology? US will always leverage future supplies with its foreign policy objectives so it is not a good idea to get anything from US. Pakistan is a pawn hence it does not mind being manipulated whereas India is aspiring to be a real power hence it should stand up on its feet and not get shackled by the whims of US foreign policy objectives which are really short-term. All future weapons systems will be heavily controlled through onboard computers/softwares, and India has a phenomenal strength in these areas. So India should start focussing on developing future weapons systems on its own instead of getting into a fool's bargain on obsolete weapons system.

play

Try to play the US at its own game. If it wants info about Iran-India ties, try the carrot-stick policy. Get some advanced arms, trade ties or a defence treaty. We need the US economically, so don't go to the extent of messing ties. A change in administration in US changes a lot of things.

Uncle Sams....
by David on Oct 29, 2004 10:12 AM

We have ourselves to blame for a mess that's not far down the road. By rushing blindly to tie ourselves to the global ( read US) market piper we must now run to his tune the volume of whic is only going to get shriller.

Lets understand & accept that the US is playing for a global empire and that its on collusion course with the EEC and with China and India. Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan , open a map to guess who's next.

We have to nuclearise , we have to build alliances with other powers also in the firing line and yes, we must diversify & manage our market even at the cost of growth.

Unfortunately with a PM who sounds more like a CEO and less like the representative of a billion people apprehension rather than optimism seems to be justified. We could learn from China's strategy. They seem to be making some good moves. Lets learn the lessons of history. The East India Co came as free traders and stayed as slave masters and that was not so long ago!

US devious plan
by sriharsha on Oct 29, 2004 01:01 AM

I would like 2 point out that India should not give up on its relations with Iran. I am saying this inspite of no knowledge of India-Iran ties.

should we going back on our friends, just because some US thinks it wrong? No.who r they 2 tell us how 2 deal with the world. They r no way qualified 2 direct us. All the mess in Mid-east, South Asia and South-east asia is US made.We should act tactfully.

I think the government should work on its policies towards nations like russia, china, france, israel and gulf nations. It should show,by its actions, that they will not kneel down in face of bully.Look, India already has a good image in the world..except within US. we should start building on that.

Stand firm on Iran. we know we r only doing good there. Not selling Nuclear technology and missiles like US 2 b used against nations. By standing up 4 Iranians, we'll also gain the confidence of muslims back home. This is imperative

Tell uncle sam that we are right.
by ALOK TRIVEDI on Oct 28, 2004 08:38 PM

hello mr.Banerjee..First of all i would like say to u "GREAT JOB DONE". well in your article you have really shown that how mean is uncle sam.they can go to any level of meanness. But we should make them clear that our scientists are innocent n we trust them.we do not need anybody to judge their innocence. And tell that we won't do any compromise on our national security.Despite knowing that the weapons given to pak can be used against us,they're giving sophisticated weapons to them. So why should we change our long term friendly relations with iran for them? No ways..
Keep writing such articles...we need you....

Dear Arindam,
Excellent piece of work!Did not quite understand your
last paragraph. What are your best contigency plans?Should be atleast 4 .Do you think the best think tanks of both India And Pakistan should start long time plans and confidence building measures? No economic sharing though,as India is way up the ladder
comparitively. What would have Chanakya suggested, considering Sam (dont quite like calling it Uncle!)
