Where's Our Devious Plan
by khandu Patel on Oct 28, 2004 05:50 AM

Arindam Banerji has to be congratulated for bringing scholarship to this subject when the rest of Bharat has been happy to live off sound bites estolling friendship. This is one strategic relationship we can do without. Just as in life some people are self-selected as victims, Bharat is a natural victim for failing to understand the nuances of what constitutes a beneficial relationship. When was it the last time in Bharats history that the country was put before the self-importance of our leaders? They have brought the Mogul Courts bowing and scraping to the international stage when in fact advantages are gained by guile and calculation. The State Department and the American policy apparatus need to be put out of the way to gather dust and engaged only inasmuch as it suits our interests. The UNSC seat with veto rights is the only one worth having, and it is probably not even on offer. America alone questions the multilateral leanings of the world. I am closer to the American thinking. For that reason I would to say the least be displeased and much more if America stood in my way. Bharat is led by others whose cause is even more difficult to bring to victory.

Uncle Sam's Devious Plans

The west has always been hostile to India as a power independent of it. Pakistan has always been used to thwart emergence of India as a great power. We should never change these basic premises in formulating foreign policy. India should go ahead with radar deal with Iran. West will inevitably decline. All historical factors are against its continued dominance
