dear rajiv
i fully agree with u that history should be dealt impartially but cannot control my laughter on ur writings about supremacy of sanskrit and the pre pythogarous greatest achievements. why u left out that our rulers had planes, far before wright brothers dreamt and lived for 1000 yrs free from diseases before we were invaded by mughals and british.we can improve only by being critical of our past and to my lowcaste brain i cannot see anything beyond sad inhuman things in our past.kindly look into nepal which is ruled by the avatar of mahavishnu and u will feel grateful for the changes done by our invaders. britishers were the first to use dalits in the army and were able to capture the nation fully unlike all other ?great warrior kings in history. we r improving as human beings and onle by being sad and ashamed at our past we will become better humanbeings nor we will just land up being clones of narendra modis

dear poo, you are on the wrong track here. i read on a tamil newsgroup that rajeev srinivasan is not a brahmin but an ezhava, OBC or other backward community. (do a google search). he seems to have gotten over this caste issue, but you have an enormous chip on the shoulder. just try and get over it. you'll feel much better. you are as good as anybody else. don't let extremist dravidians convince you that you are inferior.

This is exactly why our country can't go anywhere. We have a bunch of brainwashed fools like Poo telling us to be ashamed ourselves.

I don't care if you're "low caste" or not. You're an idiot, Poo.

Dear Poo, all the so-called lower caste people in India are realizing that, they are as good as anyone else and integrating into the growing India. No longer they are letting the extremists, communists and casteists convince them that, they are inferior. Why dont you just try and get over it??? Otherwise, very soon, you will become the ONLY person in India, who feels inferior.
Very well said, Mr. Ijaz Ahmed

This ouseph truely shows why Mr. Srinivasan should not bother about him. When Mr.Srinivasan talked about economy and achievement by India of a certain scale found only in other continents he is talking about Islam and Christianity. His name suggests that he is a muslim and in a way he himself proves the importance of his culture and customs by arguing out of topic things.

India as Super Power.

So Rajeev,
You have written a big article just to flaunt an Gmail ID. Thats very bad.
BTB,
I dont think India is meant to be a super power. We can become a spiritual power and enlighten other civilisations.

True Indian?
by Anil Pillai on Jul 22, 2004 04:21 PM
What is a true Indian? Someone who live sin US, gets US money, and hates that country, and tries to spread hatred in India? Kiran, i guess that people like you will have no problems in accepting Osama Bin Laden as a true indian, only if he decides to wear kahaki shorts instead of his pyjamas.

Sectarian Poison: extract it, India will be great
by Ravi on Jul 13, 2004 11:31 AM
I have no doubt India will be a great power in future. This would be despite the sectarianism that has afflicted the mindset of some people like Rajeev Sreenivasan (RJ). The first step towards a genuine, democratic, super-power India will be to extract the sectarian poison which has entered a section of our polity, the best (or worst) example of which is RJ.

Is he really for a strong India, or is he another American-settled "patriot" who has no stake in an India strengthened by peace among communities, and hence spread the venom of Sectarianism ?

As a true Indian, Rajeev Srinivasan was telling other Indians, about the stumbling blocks (Communists, fundamentalists and missionaries), in India's becoming the super power. He was NOT talking about religion and only talking about our proud ancient history and their achievements.

What might India's innovation be?

Solar Energy: 19th century was England's centrury because of Steam Engine.

20th century was USA's century because of Electricity and Internal Combustion Engine.

21st century can be India's century only if we develop equally good source of energy. This can only be Solar Energy.

21st century will be an Indian Century only if India achievs a breakthrough in exploiting Solar Energy to make it the most commonly used form of energy replacing fossil fuel fired electricity.

If sunlight can be transported around the globe night can be abolished.

If artifical photosynthesis can be achieved we can get all the Hydrogen we require.

Thought provoking, But.then business as usual ,the next time around.

Agreed, we have the talent and the intelligentia.

But is it all enough? Naah..

George was strip searched in US.Are we talking about the Defence Minister,of a potential Superpower ,that too in the most right-wing Govt formed in India ever?

Yeah,America, has all the faults you mentioned, but still why are people still lining for its citizenship? To work for them basically isnt it?

India is recognized today, not becoz of yesteryears, but becoz of IT and IIT.credit to those guys who worked hard and carved a niche' for themselves.I know that hurts you but thats the truth ,isnt it?

Besides, Indian mathematicians and scientists had great ideas, not at the right time, or probably no one thought of using it back then.

Your list of potential superpowers, should have only 2 contenders, india and china.eurabia is at best, laughable.

Finally, you say, that we need to be strong militarily, with the defence budget up 27%, any compliments for UPA? noooooo

Most of your previous articles, give rise to and justify extreme and ultra-nationalistic views.

I feel like you want to make india , a la pakistan.

Ironically at a time, when they are impressed by our democracy and economy.

What do you mean by "they" are impressed by our democracy and economy. We are not here to impress anyone. Once we become a super-power "they" wont have a choice but to be impressed. We are what we are because of IT and IIT and that is why "they" are lining up at our doorstep. Previously "they" drained us economically and now "they" will drain us intellectually. Whats wrong with ultra-nationalism ? Most Indians today feel insecure and have the "Dhobi ka kutta..." syndrome because they have been brainwashed by Left-influenced text books all these years which has taught them that the only History India has is that of Moghals and the British, nothing beyond. Imagine, the syllabus keeps getting repeated every year, the so-called Indian Independence struggle for 6th,8th and 10th standards, where "Gandhi" fills the entire text book while "Bhagat Singh" is just a paragraph. No mention of Vedic period at all (isnt that a part of India's History as well?)

I have seen people in cinema halls talking on their cell phones when the National anthem is played, wow such respect for our Anthem, it makes my blood boil. BTW the Anthem was infact written in praise of the King and Queen of England.

Another good one..

How on earth can we progress when we don't even believe in ourself. I began to feel proud of my country and culture when I found out about it after getting out of college at a much later stage. We need imbibe this self esteem in our children at a much younger age by teaching them our true culture, history and achievements and not the Aryan Invasion and Romila thapar crap.

india the next superpower
by gaurav on Jul 13, 2004 01:53 AM

superb article ... all praise for rajeev

we indians have to wake up

we have to stop thinking of ourselves as a weak race

we have to assert ourselves economically and militarily

we have suffered in silence for too long

we do not harbour any ill feelings for anybody

but it is time we show some respect to ourselves

all leaders who could speak on our behalf have been killed who will show us the path

As always, great article, Rajeev!

In regards to superpowerdom: We need to be #1. Nothing else should be acceptable. We should maintain that mindset! If we believe that we Hindus created the greatest civilization in the history of the world (WHICH WE DID)and believe that it is our right to win back our superpower status, then it is only a matter of time till we do! STOP NOT TILL THE GOAL HAS BEEN REACHED!
