The lamb that roared

I guess the "lamb that roared" are the Jews or "Israel". The author states the facts but forgets to make the connection. The Jews were slaughtered in Europe in the hands of Nazis (and of others before them). Now they are "roaring" at the Palestinian Arabs. First, it is legally wrong to roar at those who did not slaughter you. Two, it is morally wrong to roar at those who are weaker than you. And before it is advocated that the Arabs slaughtered the Jews too, it would be wise to consult history books to see who started that slaughter. A fact universally acknowledged is that throughout the history of Jewish disperal, Jews fared the best under the cresent. Jerusalem existed long before the Hebrews made their way there and David built his capital, but under a different name - Salem. And it was thanks to the Islamic conquest of the city that Jews were allowed back into it- by the new Muslim rulers. The Crusaders had put an end to Jewish worship there. And yes, before hear that those "murderous Palestinians - then Philistines - had forced the Jews out of their land - it would do to remember the Romans did that. Before attempting to interpret history it is wise to read it first

Was there a common thread in this??

I find this article rather rabid. Lets look at the facts..

1. Maybe Israel didnt start agression in the west bank.. But are its actions really that pure? And what has it achieved after all these years of ruthless military action.. peace?? I dont think so it looks exactly the opposite... does it look like there will ever be a military solution? Again nix. So maybe the Israelis need to look for another solution.. (And talking about Israels development, which is not exceptional, has no relation to the issue.) And there have been "Palestinians" since biblical times ("Philistines and Gentiles") read before you write.

2. And closer home.. While I agree that terrorism needs to be crushed effectively .. an Israel type solution (building settlements inside occupied territory and arming them strongly) is definately not an option. Also war does not bring peace as a recent military excercise by the US of A has just proven. I abhor terrorism. And state sponsored acts of it. Dialog is truly a long term solution. Lets have more of it. And development / trade and economic ties do much more to build relationships than you can imagine.

Thankfully our Prime minister recognizes this.

Dear Varsha,

Its true that Isreal had been there for 1000s of yrs but so was Palestine. Pls ref the bible where it says that King David killed the "Palestinian Gaint".

Its good that you support the theory of US-Israel& India alliance but there are few points that should be kept in mind: -
1. There are many conflicts among the Hindus themselves whether they are of caste, culture, language or even region. To bring the outer world in order we need to bring order within the house.
2. US can never be trusted blindly; after all they have always ditched their allies from Iraq to Pakistan and don't forget Osama was also made by them. So go ahead with US but with caution

In my opinion we should build confidence between the various communities within the country. The major problem in India is that neither the Hindus trust neither Muslims nor the Muslims trust Hindus. People from both our communities forget that we have to live with each other and we can learn a lot from each other. If Hindus can give education & tolerance to Muslims, Muslims can share their knowledge of craftsmanship with us. Why should we look towards outer world when we r self-sufficient.

Hey Varsha
Once again a gr8 job done. Bringing the facts that its the hardwork of any community that pays and the sufferings. Jews suffered from Germany and Hindus suffered from muslims rulers as well as from british. Now the time is returing. THanks to your enlightening article and keep your offence up. Please bring out a series on Gandhi and his misdeeds. Which werevery costly for india? like joining khilafat, then giving 55 crores to pukis, then his views on Castism, His meeting with Lord Irvine about Bhagat Singh in 1931. So on.
