Couple of Points

It is true that people in public life are judged by history. But lambasting Gandhi's policies now, is like appreciating sunset from the top of a lighthouse and abusing the people on the ground for being unappreciative. Its true he took the title of "Mahatma" too seriously that didnt bode well for India's future, he did bring millions of Indians together which is not done since then.
Regarding the current peace initiatives, although they might turn futile, I think came at the correct time. With Iraq gone, the pressure will be on India to start the dialogue process and by initiating the peace process, we have not only preempted the International diplomatic pressure but also have diverted it onto Pakistan to show more results on the ground (not that it matters to that stupid country). No matter how "natural" an ally US is to India, I dont think its interference did anybody good(ex: Pakistan). So, by diverting its attention from J&K and by operations like Sarpa Vinash and by diplomatic pressure in the form of peace initiatives we might show Pakistan the place it deserves in international politics. No place for emotions in foreign policy. Titles to jihadi leaders (suar) are good though

Solution to kashmir.

I have been reading and witnessing indian frustration for a long time now about pakistan. I have come to the conclusion pakistan as it is cannot and will not be a viable state to live with. India has to cut pakistan further down to size.
Lets just analyse this situation as it is. The pakis are a divided lot. For all the allegations that are hurled at the hindus for being casteists and so on, islam has higher number of castes and more animosity between them(shias hate sunnis, sunnis hate hazaras, hazaras hate uzbeks, pashtoons everybody and mohajirs are treated as less than human). Atleast hindus accept it and are rectifying.
India has to take advantage of this animosity and give "moral and diplomatic" support to them(who ever wants to fight). By moral and diplomatic you know what I mean.
The situation will work to as I see it. Balochistan and parts of it will go to Iran. NWFP and pashtoon psychos will go to afganistan(they should not accept the durrand line). POK and Sindh will merge with India.
The reamining punjabi higher class will be given an enemy in afghans to fight with till eternity.
as for India muslims and the communists, they have to be treated like they dont matter

Solution to Kashmir

I agree with Mr.Santosh to a great extent.

First let Pakistan give freedom to its "own" people and then let it speak for "others" freedom.

My bet is that with the current rate of undercurrent tensions in the Pakistani society, it will cease to exist as a single entity in about 15 years time.

The NWFP is a troubled lot. Karachi is a violent capital.

Do not worry, Pakistan in due course will be the BEST EXAMPLE FOR A FAILED STATE.. It will fall apart on its own..... India has to wait till then and the right moment give it a gentle push to complete the job.

Jai Hind.
