Exclusive: Advani on his passion
by Nelson Lewis on Jul 23, 2003 04:21 PM

I am amazed to learn that L.K. Advani in spite of being a voracious reader is capable of incapable things.

I am not at all moved by his exclusive interview.

I have high respect for people like Chandra Babu Naidu, Chief Minister of Pradesh Pradesh, who has used his energy for doing something constructive for his State and administering it efficiently and A.K. Anthony for his honesty, but Advani is only capable of creating enemies and not friends. There is an English saying "actions speak louder than words".

advani
by phalaksh on Jun 20, 2003 09:33 PM

the kinda of books person reads reflects the kind personality he has got.
in case of advani, it cleary shows tht he is a hard core polititian of 20th century.
all thosse books might b inspiring but r not directional, he is a kind of person who has limitaions to invoke people,s emotions[ bhadkana]
but he is totally incapable of giving direction to a great nation like india.
he can provoke but never inspire.
i dont want him to b india,s prime minister.
i would prefer someone like
S.M .KRISHNA or CHANDRABABU NAIDU to lead india.
who r visionaries.
for a matter jawahar lal nehru too was a visionary
but whwt he visualised were nt in india,s interest in long term.
ne way v shd be proud of whwtever achievements v have made to this date as indians

Want to cross the floor post-2004-elections.
by chanakya on Jun 14, 2003 05:30 PM

Advaniji gives credit to Nehru for strengthening democracy - the democracy that has given the Indians rotten fruits that smell so foul - secularism, kashmeer, reservations, bhrshtaachaar, a long list of the most undesirable and abhorrable insanities.

Advaniji does not appear to be fully confident of a BJP sweep in the 2004 election.

It is hoped he is not making preparations to make himself acceptable as the new Home Minister in a new Congress-led government getting installed in 2004 !

Thanks Sheela
by Ratan Sharda on Jun 10, 2003 12:57 PM

I wish to thank Sheela for the insight she has provided in the personality of Mr. L. K. Advani. That an extremely busy person like him still manages to find time to read should be an inspiration to all up coming young people and specially people in public life.

Indian readings
by NJ Ramesh on Jun 08, 2003 08:33 PM

Our Home Minister has clearly not read the authors who would have given him a sense of real India and Indian values. He ought to read Tagore, Premchand, Agyeya, Dinkar, Jayashankar Prasad and other major Indian authors. If he gets time he could also read Ramayana!

Advani time to go
by kabir on Jun 08, 2003 08:27 PM

India will never get ahead with people like Mr. Advani and his old ideals. its time to move and move quickly. indian diplomats sat when all trade orders were going to china, they continue to do so now. time to do the work you are paid for. time to take your hands out of your pocket. and for christ sake set kashmir free!! we have been fighting like kids.

No wonder he thinks so short sightedly!!!!
by an indian on Jun 08, 2003 06:14 PM

To think that our home minister finds only the likes of john grisham and jeffrey archer as the only modern day authors worth reading... it has both shamed and awed me!! that certainly speaks volumes about the level of intellect possessed by this rss man. what a pity that on this day he is in the US representing india!!!

the embarrassment doesnt end there.. the only tryst he has with indian independence, is when he reads a book by savarkar, the man who thrice wrote to the british asking forgiveness, extolling everything british, just to secure his release from prison. and that chap is once again called a patriot!!!!

and pray, what has shyama prasad mukherjee "done from our side" towards democracy? i dont think his name can be written in the same line alongwith that of nehru's, unless one is soo ignorant of history!!
