stories they dont want told
by srinivas on Apr 29, 2003 07:11 PM

First of all let us not forget hinduism is not a relegion, its a way of life.So please dont shout aloud and drop ourselves into that hole.
Again!I say this because we dont belong to any specific relegion,we just have a way of life.
So what if some one tries to converts you?dont we know whats right and whats wrong?
This conversion drama is all for money..nothing else.
Christian came from CHRIST and MOHAMMADEN came from MOHAMMED(after a person)...but HINDU came from hinduism...a civilization.
Thats why its easy to convert a hindu to a christian...but not a christian and muslim to hindu...for the simple reason that they dont have that freedom of choice and the most free people are all hindus, whatever they practise(christianity or Islam).
So you see...every1 by birth is a hindu(human being).
And yes every human being must have the liberty of his choice.

do some work
by das on Apr 29, 2003 07:06 PM

After reading this article, I feel I am one of the most
illiterate person, who has been blinded in the name of
education and Secularlism. It would be a great eye opener
to all, if you can prove all the instances quoted by this
reporter. I feel she is just a bored, lazy and depressed
person who wants moments of glory as Nathuram Godse wanted.
It need a great mind to understand great deed, people have
given away their best including forgiving those who have
burned their childrens and husband, has your reporter ever
met such persons in her lifetime ? Please make sure she know
what she is talking about ? And please send her to
missionariies of charities home and see the "proselytisation"
that takes place. she has given some numbers about chidren
being abused, well does she know how many children benfitted
from such program ? Does she have those numbers, or is it
asking too much from her to get up and do some work ??

thanks

harsha's article
by ravi shastry on Apr 29, 2003 07:02 PM

dear sir,

yes i agree with the author. the activity of the churches and various sub faiths like ray of hope are reaching remote villages.

in my native village in karanataka's hassan dt. in the hill areas the local tribes are converted overnight.

the pity is that exept having a cross in the neck there is no change in theire life.

they were working as farm labours in christian coffee estate owner then and now. not allowed to enter hs house.
it is high time to bring a law similar to tamil naadu in karnataka.

unfortunatly we have a chief minister who is at the door steps of a leader who is very pleased to one Ajith jogi kind of man in karnataka too.

THE REAL PROBLEM IS ............
by dattasai on Apr 29, 2003 06:50 PM

The people who preach that their god is the only god & other all gods are saitans. The real problem with mr.cooper in thrivendram was that he was speaking more against Hindu gods rather then about Jesus.( check indian express of those days ). He was really worried about dummy gods like Ayyapan ( according to him ) .rather then his own god.

I personally faced this problem in our engg college hostel. This people are ready to spend money for poor students in the form of text books & other study material plus you have got to take a free copy of Bible. They take advantage of caste system & will show that christianity can give much greater status to dalits . Many of my friends & seniors have converted & preach more against hinduism rather then about Jesus. ( Even if they speak about jesus it will be a relative preaching , comparing hinduism & their newly adopted faith ).
The newly converted are more in to preaching & are wanna fight against hinduism with their entire strength.

The evenglican group here asked me to pray along with them & i did it because i had no problem to pray any god . But the real problem came when they asked me to stop worshipping hindu gods because they feel that hindu gods are saitans .

I simple stoped interacting with them & stopped taking help from them .

REAL THREAT
------------

i see the real threat to the country from this groups because they are spreading hate against once own religion & their gods.

We fear conversion due to our own follies.
by Ravinder on Apr 29, 2003 05:51 PM

Hi Versha,
Let me ask you few questions,
1)Have you ever missed/denied a day's meal in your lifetime? What do you know about hunger and poverty?
2)Why to glorify the religious loyality even when basic need of food, shelter and cloths are not ensured in country like INDIA.
3) Do you know more than 90% of people who are below poverty line belongs to lower casts, SC, ST etc.
4) Why is so much disparity in living standard of the people of a common religion i.e HINDUS?
5)And most importantly, why do you think we are so vulernable to the conversion?

I feel you are very selective in your analyisis and avoided the real issues of the conversions. This kind of views only misguide the common readeers. But I think you are paid just for that. Are't you? The issues of conversion problem will HIT hard on the very idealogy of HINDUTAVA for which you and your brigade stand for. If we HINDUS were not selfish, we won't have had so much poverty and no one would have taken the trouble to come and feed the needy. Deep in our heart we want (our) people to remain poor, so that we can rule and oppress them as ever. Christianity bashing by you (and many other) is another farce. We must reform our religion first and then go on preaching others.

Selective Amnesia.
by George on Apr 29, 2003 05:33 PM

How could a person with a brilliant analysis through misrepresentation and selective presentation of facts out of context, lose it when it comes to analysing the absurdities of Hinduitva and its hoodloom's activities...

Should it not be termed selective amnesia...or a person with a hard core agenda to propogate in the guise of a factual representation.

The missionary zeal has never been quelched by any amount of hatred and destruction or force all through 2000 years of it mission work around the world... it will survive as long as it is powered by LOVE and genuine SERVICE TO MANKIND, the ideals of christianity.

Atleast we should take some consolation that they do deliver on what they promise on all fronts, developmental, spriritual and others.

I being a Christian happen to recall the words of CHTIST himself when he was slapped in the court of Pontous Pilot, for what he stood for, before being hanged on the cross, he dared to ask: "For which of the good things I worked amongst you do you slap me for."

I hope every missonary when tormented and persecuted should be able to ask the same.

One will, how so ever grudgingly, have to appreciate the constructive work done by the missionaries down through the ages.. as compared to hoodlooms of Hinduthva which has only left a trail of massive destruction anywhere they had been active.. just take a snap shot of Gjurat riots, Bombay riots, Ayodhya temple movement, etc ( I wonder if they are known for anything other than riots). They are the in forefront of formenting communal hatred. It is bound to happen as they are powered by pure hatred of the 'other' and hence they cannot do any good to anybody.. even for Hindus themselves whom they claim to protect... They take umbrage at conversions only when they leave their fold out of sheer neglect, humiliation and deprivation... till then they are oblivious of their plight. Once they happen to have embraced christianity there comes the protectors of hinduism, drunk is hatred and with hurt egos.

Really I feel pity ....!

Are you in the RSS bandwagon
by shalet on Apr 29, 2003 05:16 PM  | Hide replies

all this was really news to my ears ms. bhosle, forcefull conversion , kindly highlight on that, are the people tied with ropes , or beaten up if not converted, or anything else, as per my knowledge india is a democratic nation wherein everybody has a freedom of speech, theres nothing bad in preaching gospel,or any holy book as a matter of fact,
Another thing that grabs my attention is abt the priests molesting kids, well well , there are many cases when a temple priest has been caught even for rape cases, so the conclusion is one who does a wrong deed should always be punished whether or not he/she belongs to any religion , & how does it make a difference wheteher the priest who did a sin was a hindu, or a christian, or a muslim.
what dara singh did was wrong & he ll get for it.
Rest i would stick to what gramham stains wife told after loosing her family "may the almighty forgive him for his sin."

shalet mathew.
