bigots like bhosle must be ostracized!!
by ash on Apr 29, 2003 03:28 PM

seems to me varshas views are akin to the fundamentalist segregationist ideology as purpoted by the ku klux clan or south africa's ex-apartheid regime.we don't need such people to foster and breed hate feelings between people just by their tacit use of the media.let all people come to know of this breed of people who incite and inflame public sentiment to satisfy either some perverse need or some gross inadequency or insecurity within their own character!!!!!!!let unity in diversity rule on we r one regardless of whatever anyone labels or classify us!!!!!!!!

christain conversions
by joya on Apr 29, 2003 03:26 PM

i would suggest that varsha should also do an interview with the indian christains and see what they have to say. ia m sure they have very different point of view.

it is a known fact that every bloody religion has its share of people who believe in proselytising.

it is a pity that this journalist thinks that she wouldn't mind if dara singh comes out unscathed. shows how much religious tolerance she has. i don't think those 2 little boys who got burnt by the mob in orissa went around converting the poor oriyas. please show some sensitivity.

i know so many people who have gone to christain schools, colleges and let's face they are one of the best educational institutions in india, and not one hindu or muslim friend was converted to christainity.

varsha, it will do you good if you could ask these kashmiris, why did they get converted? aren't they independent individuals with sensible heads on their shoulder to THINK and DECIDE why they wanted to convert. i doubt, that christainity as religion is better than other religions. these people must be feeling betrayed politically and economically or even emotionally otherwise why would they go religion hopping?

please do not put indian christains in the same category as the american missionaries. do some more in-depth and fair research before readers start thinking all christains are like some trouble-making american missionaries.

Relating Christianity to politics
by Manoj on Apr 29, 2003 03:20 PM

It is normal for people to critisize. However, what is your angle? Are you saying that Christianity is dying and that it belongs to the affluent West?

If so, then you are mistaken on both counts. The need to evangelise is not with a view to fill the membership forms in churches as some of the organisations may have been doing. It is based on the words of Christ to go out into the world and be witnesses of God to mankind. Perhaps you could read the New testament and learn what Christ taught.

Your vehement approach to Cristianity reeks of insecurity. You have tried to pooh pooh history. I ask you do you do the same with your religion or do you listen to your brethren and do as you are told?

Obviously not. You could'nt score brownie points then, could you?

Madam, Religion may be manmade and divinely inspired, but it does'nt hurt to take what is good.

I hope some day, you will realize.

regards

Manoj

by vinodha on Apr 29, 2003 03:10 PM

what a stupid thought. neither a Indian will help poor suffering people nor let other to help poor.

if any missionaries come for help on humanatarian ground they are seen on religious ground. Legal action should be taken against this editor

wat r u taking about
by DEVIL on Apr 29, 2003 03:07 PM

Hey Varsha great speach. Why dont u join politics. They need a lot of people like u. I dont believe in religion or anything. Instead of writing such a long speach and trying on the female sympathy tell me what have u done for the country. Isnt our country supposed to be a secular country where everyone can preach and practise what they want. Just because a few conversion u write a long letter. What the hell have we got to do if there is a war in iraq. R u going to fight or r u sending money to fight or have u done anything for the people of iraq. There r a lot of problem in our country u could stop waisting ur time and do something about the corruption in the country which is the main cause of all the problem started by our politician. When america was attack it wiped out a regime in afganistan, When the parliment our main structure of power was attacked what did our politician do.nothing. If there is a bloody war in the neighbourhood there r morchas and fights in our country.what have u done to control it. Nothing. We fight over religion and the outsiders take advantage.Politician have a nice time.Jawans die everyday what have u done about it,Nothing. If u cant do anything then dont say anything. Does religion mean so much to u that u will instigate people to kill? If u want to write about anything then make the people aware of the dirty political system and then the problem of religion will also go away. Do something constructive with ur gift of writing.

Superb
by Subash on Apr 29, 2003 03:00 PM

I believe atleast Hindus do not need conversions.People who term HINDUS as idol worshippers are greatly mistaken..In fact, in hinduism there is no restriction on the type of worship one can have. Each desirable quality is abstracted as GOD or Goddess. We worship animals,plants,earth,air,water,humans..Of course like any other religion would have it,due to vested interests of certain groups, dogmas and rituals were hyped even though they are not the true essence of Hinduism. Also, there are no so called conversions.Hinduism preaches that changing religion is like changing ones father.
I respect all religions and hope the time comes when religious tolerance is practised all over world.Atleast we indians should learn that since rama krishna paramahamsa and saibaba conveyed the same.

Varsha's Storey
by Raj on Apr 29, 2003 02:55 PM

All said and done, How many of you guys / girls who read this storey / commented about this storey studied in Christian Schools ? How many of your children study in Christina schools ? How many go to Christian Hospitals ? How many of you were converted there as Christians ? How many of you went abroad to study in Christian Colleges ?

Stop all these crap and see whether we can move the country from a third world to a first world economy super power. We have wasted ENOUGH time and blood on these irresponsible / wasteful articles.

Raj
