It is not true. People likes only good cinema. Linga is total waste of time. Screenplay should be very strong for Rajini's movie. Linga has very poor screenplay.
Bollywood j0kers Amitabh, SRK, Salman give atleast 5 utter flops and cr@p movies every year..but these media call them superstars .. there are only 3 flops for rajini in past 10yrs, but for media rajini is losing this charisma ...
People has already seen Rajini's best and mega blockbuster movie like sivaji, baasha etc.. so they expect a new rajini movie something above these blockbuster movies...Linga and kochadaiyaan are not upto the mark due to the the weak story line .. its the fault of the director and not rajini's.. Rajini is a superstar..he should leave these old directors like ravikumar, vaasu and give chance to new directors like nalan, karthik subburaj, kvanand, venkatprabhu

my dear friend. Tendulkar was considered as a gem. He also had to retire. By criticizing Bollywood, you can't make rajni younger. in future, Rajni may give one hit film but his era is over.Accept the fact. Nature rules.

Nobody is telling rajini is young.. and ppl like him not looking at this young look in movies..Everybody likes him as a person. he comes outside in public with no make up, not like bollywood stars always in full suit and makekup.. and dont compare rajini and tendulkar.. both r in different field.. why cant ur ompuri, amitabh bachan retire ?

I don't think Amitabh, OM puri acts as a hero dancing with 20 yr old girl in each and every film. But Rajni does that. Rajni could be a good person. But does that guarantee the film to be successful. nowadays People look for entertainment only. I think it is good trend that even south india is following. They don't care if it is Rajni, Kamal or Vikarm.

hope u've not seen kajrare song where ur amitabh is dancing with his own daughterinlaw.. and news about ompuri doing bedscenes with mallikashrewat .... Rajini wont fit in any story..there r stories written for rajini.. linga and kochadaiyaan flopped becoz the story and screenplay are weak but all the reviews praised rajini's performance in those movies

yes ofcourse from your point of view its 100% correct. he should give chances to new directors.
But, after that one should agree that the time is over and should quit gracefully or do roles that suit his age and status. Rajani has even acted in elderly roles when he was young but now many wonder why still he does super hero roles. Directors should think about it...
It’s still intriguing why veteran Indian actors shy away from playing their age on celluloid. Why do they want to dance around trees with 20 something heroines even when they have crossed their 60s?

No one is forced to watch. This is make blv world. Why the big hangup about age?

When a young man act as a old man, people say wow great acting then why not the reverse is true.If a young actor can not match the charisma of 60 actor then who is at fault.Anyhow, this is not sports, it is film where age is secondary and talent is primary.
Rajinikanth's persona, aura and his popularity is just a media created hype, myth and over exaggeration. For providing a hit, he needs the very best in every Technical Department and also rope in the most glamarous contemporious actress, popular comedian, notorious villian as side kicks. His last hit Endhiran was also possible only due to the expertise of a maverick Director Shankar strewn in with a lavish budget and novel script and screen play. If he is really a Super Star, he must be able to provide a hit single handedly just what Kamal Haasan did with Dasavatharam and Vishwaroopam which were monstrous hits but didn't have the comfort of an able Technical and Production team. It is also disconcerting for the audience to watch a 66 year old grand father romancing and dancing with Girls fit to be his grand daughters. It is time Rajini comes to his senses and take up roles that fits his age. He is now good at only fatherly characters and will be apt if he plays a Grand Father.

I see. So to win your vote, he has to act only with 66 yr old characters. Well. My friend, he is not forcing u to come watch his movie.

Well, if you are a celebrity, you should be accustomed to criticism. I find totally at odds a man aged 66 dancing with girls aged 16 using the latest technique of Computer animation and make up work to make himself presentable. Infact it is the make up department which would be the biggest expenditure as far as Rajini's films are concerned.

let's state the facts correctly - Rajni is 64, not 66. Anushka is not 16 but 33 and Sonakshi is not 16 but 27. BTW, there was not even one romance scene between Rajni and Sonakshi (Knowing Rajni's character, he would have said no to this as he has acted with Shatrughan in the past, so Sonakshi is like a daughter to him). Lingaa had a good storyline...this is celluloid there will be scenes which will be larger than life like the hot air balloon scene. Have we not scene Vijay or Salman do such scenes before?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Rajini is just a media created hype
by Soderling on Jan 20, 2015 04:21 PM
Then what was about that romantic song with Anushka and Sonikshi with him dancing to their steps ? What was he doing with Aishwarya in Endhiran when he was romanticising with her in duet songs ? He himself has said that it is G0d's punishment to him to dance with young artists like Anushka and Sonakshi and here you are trying to hide the most obvious as any ardent fan would behave trying to hide the fallacies of their idol. If Lingaa had really a good story line, it would not have flopped the way and become a box office dud. Even a half decent story line and screen play would have done the trick. But, it faltered badly because of its over hype and sensation by the Media which heightened expectations and the film never lived up to it and fell flat.

The time has come for him to gracefully retire and hang his boots or else his future Projects will only meet similar fate of Lingaa and he will be booted out rather ignominously.
