Several memorable films by directors such as Bimal Roy, Guru Dutt, Raj Kapoor [Awara, Shree 420, Jaagte Raho etc], Vijay Anand [Guide], Hrishikesh Mukherjee etc abound. Ratna Pathak Shah is speaking as though that India has only films like Sholay to its credit. It is not true. Anyway, every nation has a lot of movies which is commercially successful in their own nations. Spaghetti Westerns are an example here. True, aged heroes romancing girls old enough to be their daughters is very embarrassing ... but they were NOT made to be entered into the Hall of Fame.
Ms. Shah is an intelligent( not an abuse, to the idiots who treat it as such) articulate woman who calls a spade a spade and says it like it is. it's not merely an embarrassment for the french (and frankly who the hey cares about that), but it is an embarrassment to the general indian public, or at least it shud be!!!! Look at the slew of trash that comes out of Mumbai and the amount one has to pay to watch it, do the math people. Are they worth our hard earned money.!!!!?

Hollywood too produces its share of trash; but they also produce a "Silence of the Lambs" which is beyond the realm of even imagination of bollywood (sic).
Afterall, what is bollywood, except tasteless chauvinistic Punjabi males?

Bollywood is filled with people who think they are "Hollywood material" and resent the fact that they have to work in Bollywood because they haven't caught their big Hollywood break yet!
Mrs. R P S is one such person!
She looks like an aging female rabbit but has the nerve to spite the hand that has fed her husband ever since he "switched" sides from the uptight "parallel cinema" movies he used to act in to the decomposing wet Bollywood garbage movies like 'Jalwa', 'Tridev', 'Karma' to name a few!
Bollywood takes hypocrisy to dizzying heights and this is just one more example of that fact!
Calling a Bollywood movie 'embarrassing to watch' is quite redundant!
All of them are embarrassing to watch!
Grown, supposedly sane men some pushing 50 years of age, dancing like mental patients who have skipped their medication around girls half their age is embarrassing to watch!
But does Mrs. R P S have the right to call any movie embarrassing after her son has acted in an equally if not more embarrassing movie which has an almost 50 year old man as its protagonist or "hero" as he is refereed to in Bollywood movies?!
