FILMS AFFECTING BRAHMNIN SENTIMENTS
by Sundararaman knagarajan on Jan 27, 2013 06:53 PM

Brahmins have no backbones. When a brahmin woman character is shown in bad light(Arangetram) nobody objects. Similarly Silanerangalil Sila Manithsargal - nobody objected. But when the famous writer SUJATHA wrote a story in KUMUDHAN which indirectly had something bad in taste about NADAR community, the entire community threatened the KUMUDM publication and the writer had to be protected.

Even today, needlessly, without any reason or rhyme, even when the film is not about a brahmin family, the characters sport traditional dress pattern of brahmins and make fun. We call all such directors "CREATIVE DIRECTORS". They are given national awards too.

I do not know when this Brahmin community will wake up to such insults from the film world and protest.

Lessons learnt

Hopefully Kamal would realize now that while he can scot-free abusing his own religion and community time and again, claiming himself a rationalist, just cos they are very tolerant, he can't mess around with other communities who will put him in his place. I've always maintained he doesn't dare such stunts with this particular sector and now I stand vindicated! Hope atleast now on he only focuses on stories that don't offend anyone's beliefs and if possible take social causes in general..and move over from acting to give way for new gen as well, become a mentor for fresh talents. There are many who'd be willing to suck upto his narcissist styles :) Amen..

no it is not a stunt. there are several powerful forces against Kamal Haasan who are trying their best to stop his growth. If the movie releases normally and if at all it becomes a big hit, their fate is at stake. So they have gone all the way to kill the movie. Lets see who wins. I sincerely hope Vishwaroopam becomes a grand success in every part of the world. By the way, the movie is one amazing piece of work, kind of film never seen in indian cinema.

why is this minority behaving so odd?
by vijay karthik on Jan 25, 2013 12:03 PM  | Hide replies

are mus1im groups so strong in TN? and how is is that they have such an influence all over India and rest of the world? there were so many movies criticizing H1ndu Gods and Brahm1ns in particular but these movies were allowed release and became hits too. Nobody ever objected. A harmless movie made by one of Indias most respected entertainers has to go through so many difficulties. Is it such a sp1neless government?

it has to be enourmously profitable
by vijay karthik on Jan 25, 2013 11:51 AM

once all these issues are cleared and the movie releases in screens, the public has to watch it in theatres and support Kamal for his courageous effort. only a success like Avatar will be a right reward for him.
