I thing A.R.Rahman Music is very good, i think Lyrics Gulzar has not done his job. very difficult to understand what he is telling, i think Javed Akhtar or Sameer whould have done better justic to A.R.Rahman tunes.

First of all, ARR has created a certain pedestal for himself from which his music will be always reviewed.

Apart from composing some path breaking melodies in the past he habitually added myriads of underlying layers and clever nuances. So there was novelty. When an average listener hears it for the first time he will be more attentive towards the melody and the details miss him.Over repeated hearings, now familiarised with the melody he starts to attend the details and now WOW! he can really see how the nuances enhance the melody, owe it to Rahman's genius. Eg: Dil Se, Lagan, Thiruda Thiruda the list can go on.

People change and Rahman's Style has also changed over the years... Hearing Jab tak hai jaan, one can see there is no this attention to detail approach from him. The interlude music in Challa and couple of other songs are repeat of the main melody played with instruments. It is somewhat lazy composing or may be done in a hurry. So there is no scope for repeated hearrings and inventing hidden greatness in the songs. Melodies too are average this time. The sounds are too generic and he has failed to create individuality to this album which he normally does. So I will rather endorse the view of the reviewer. Far below from his usual standards...Thank you
