Do you know who Satyajit Ray is? If you watch some of his path-breaking films such as Apur Sansar and Charu Lata, you would know who Soumitra is and what great acting is all about.
SOUMITRA CHATTOpadhyay has been unparalal in Bengali Cinema. In terms of modern film acting not even Uttam Kumar was comparable with him. Hats of to him. PRADEEPAN DASGUPTA.
There was a time when Bengali cinema use to lead the pack and out perform Hindi movies in western countries. Bengali movies and artists were revered world over and even in Hindi cinema, there were many Bengali directors, singers etc. But sadly Bengali movies and artists did not get the same level of national recognition in India compared to Hindi actors and even now it's very sad to see how far the medium of Bengali cinema has declined compared to it's glory years during the Satyajit ray's era.
