Re: If Irafan born in USA

Irrfan Khan, is a hugely talented person, and I do agree that if were an American actor, he would have had an even more interesting career. However, because he is so supremely talented, he at least has a shot at life, in this country, my country, called India.
Think of those of us who are less gifted. Do we stand any chance in life? It is a sin to be poor in India.
Infact, I wonder, if apart from the Rajas, Kalmadis, Laloos and their brethren who are yet to be hauled up in a court of law, are anyone else of us, born in the right country?

This is our greatest problem We feel so inferior and keep vying for international appreciation. Why doesn't your appreciation count or matter? Because you think that it is not worth it? There is whole new field of study that teaches how to create a brand and market it. Indians are extremly poor at it For a starter, let me give you a talisman "Learn to value yourself first and then people will start valuing you". This is what makes west different from India.

There r certain things we need to learn from the west, be it in film awards or road manners or many other things.... Cud u pls explain on what ground did saif won best actor award for hum tum besides havin his mother in the award commitee. or bachan sr winnin for paa with the help of ramesh sippy at the helm. or countless awards won at filmfares nd stardusts by srk or salman lind of actors... The finest actors this country has ever produced r always left out. be it naseruddin shah, irffan, prakash raj, thilakan or nedumudi venu or any other brilliant actor of their calibre.. In the west they chose award not lookin at the banners or the value of the stars, but for the performances.. If u remeber anthony hopkins won the oscars for the silence of the lambs despite havin a miniscule screen time of 17 min in the movie.. His performance was so stupendous that ppl ddnt realise it until it was cited in the magazines.. another examples r roberto benigni for an italian movie life is beatiful, forrest whitaker for the last king of scotland, a comparitively small movie named the hurt locker winnin against avatar, and so many other instances. In India I highly doubt this will happen. its a place wer srk won best actor for oso, hrithik for knph etc.. evn in national award category, these things r happenin. else hw wud srk get nominated for mnik or saif winnin an aard. amitabh always got chosen over malayalam actors who delivered much superior performances all 3 times....

"Irfan Khan" is much much talented actor than other Khans. He is present day 'Tom Hanks' of India.
I said this when I saw "Billu". I said this when I saw "36 hours". I said this, when I saw him in "Haasil". And lastly, in "Mumabi, Meri Jan".
In a coutry obsessed with bigger than life actors, who hardly act or prtray the character but more portray the fame they carry, IRFAN comes with a global image.
Who is the best "Khan", for all those who have their own ideology and have the ability to think non-populist way, its IRFAN KHAN.

If Imran Hashmi would have been among Khan or Kapur or Roshan then he would have been flying high... His most of the film are hit or do above average business; Most of the songs of his films are great...

I disagree.
When I see Irrfan Khan, I usually see a strong man. Even in that amazingly weird KILB AD, I feel I'm being addressed by a man.
I'm yet to find a man in any of the characters played by Tom Hanks, with the exception of Castaway.
Tom Hanks and Robbie Williams strike me as two characters whom I'm not sure are men or what?
Even in Castaway, which incidentally is my wife's favorite film, a story of survival, Tom Hank's character does not survive only because of his indomitable spirit, his complete belief that losing is NOT an option. He's not in love with himself, far off being in love with winning, he's in love with some female somewhere and imagines a coconut is that female and somehow pushes himself to not die.
I don't think Irrfan Khan plays those kind of characters.
Most of hte people on this forum dotn know that Irrfan Khan is 49 years old ... its extremly difficult to practice for an athlete role at this age ... seems to be very dedicated and committed performance ... we all should make this movie a hit to keep alive good cinema and great artists in this country ...
