Good, honest and revealing article. Many other such articles on Khanna's dark side of life have cropped up on internet; their timing isn't right, but media is only doing what people are demanding. I was born in 80s and never been into Khanna or his genre until his death.
Rajesh Khanna lived like the king even in his hard times, he teach us splender, self confident and not bend to anyone whatever the result will be. We will love him till the death RIP

This author is trying to defame Khanna. Just consider the logic - Khanna despite being the highest paid actor was appraoched by producers again and again thats the reason he has 106 solo hero films and only 22 muti star films.He holds record for max films as solo lead hero author backed roles.Producers never shied away. Plus each producer and director has repeated Khanna in 3 films minimmum.His filmography from 1966-1991 proves a lot. He has min 2 films releasing every year from 1969-1991. He has 95 box office hits and got the best music because he used to sit for music sessions.Thats possible only when you are liked by all and respected for your acting skills.RK was very humble and infact generous. Poeple have taken bunglows, cars from him and inudustry people have praised him for being so humble - Khayyam, Raza Murad, Amitabh etc in interviews.Also Amitabh just did angry young man films. Khanna's fimography shows he has done wide varity of films of many genres and achieved success. Romance was just an element in Khanna's films but each film of his was of different genre.Avatar was remade as Baghbhan, Anokha Rishta remade as Lamhe,Nishabd and Sachca Jhuta as Don. Go and See Redrose, Aaj Ka M.L.A Ram Avatr, Babu, Tyaag, Amardeep, Awaaz, Bawarchi etc-- were they romantic films ? they were each of different genres. Khanna has 153 films in 25 years and 128 as lead hero (106 solo hero films and only 22)Amitabh mostly has muti star films only.

Rajesh Khanna was the most quiet, soft and gentle charecter in Indian film industry. Self respect is considered arrogance in many people thoughts

RK and AB almost strated their Movie carier almost same time and their age is also same but RK got got very fast success between 1969 to 1973 he gave 15 hits in a row which is still a bollywood record which no one can break. But in 1973 after movie Namak Haraam, Big B already shown Rajesh Khanna that a Actor is born and after 1975 Hit Zanjeer, Angry Young Man, Amitabh Bachchan was born after that rest is History.

you got all your dates wrong. amitabh debuted in 1969 with saat hindustani and rajesh debutedin 1966 with akhri khat. and zanjeer came in 1973 and was a hit. rajesh was still going strong till 1974 with hits like prem nagar and roti but sholay sealed his fate for good in 1975.

Khanna married Dimple when shooting of Bobby had not begun and he married in March and in Mov 1973 Bobby became a hit. So he did not marry to be in news. aboslute rubbish written by the author above
Maybe the only thing worth mentioning of Rajesh Khanna is that he gave 15 hits in a row, that too mostly because of R.D.Burman & Kishore Kumar.
As some journalist perhaps rightly pointed out, he was a lucky guy who filled up the time gap between the time of Raj/Dilip/Dev's decline and Amitabh's rise.

Mr. listen to what asha bhosle said in Indian Idol 21st Jul episode- he got the best songs because it was reserved for him. he used to select tunes and sit for music sessions.
That is Rajesh Khanna we loved inspite of so many ill written things about him.As rightly said by Amitabh himself a great person and actor "It was his role with Rajesh in Anand that made him noticed by the public".The initial spark of angry man was realised in the movie Namak Haram.Public thronged to see Anand & Namak Haram due to Rajesh Khanna the fact which cannot be denied

yes, right. people thronged the theatres to see rajesh khanna in anand and saw a new rising actor called amitabh. then again they thronged the theatres to see rajesh khanna in namak haraam, and this time they were convinced that it was amitabh who was better than rajesh. rajesh never acted with amitabh again in his life after that, scared that he would be outshone by amitabh.

outshone??? Khanna has given 73 Golden Jub hits and 22 silver jubliee hits in 25 years from 1967-1991. is that possible if producers, directors,scriptwriters had not appraoched him. If Amitabh had beaten him then hows that Khanna gave 95 box office hits in his career?
One of the finest Actor, but may be not a good person. But all said and done, I can not forget few of his moovies. Niether some of the songs in his moovies.
