Superb...

Nanban is a comedy of ideas that is as provocative as funny, as wildly entertaining as insightful. A laugh-riot that talks about the most important of human pursuits: self-actualization.

With six pack body and short look how Surya can be a student...? Only Vijay will suit the role...With his petty dance postures Surya can never fit in this role..

It is not a comparison between Aamir and Vijay...It is between Vijay and Surya...Vijay is a mass hero always...but Surya is not like that...Vijay can fit in younger roles in his current shape...but Surya has to bend for this role...He just survives because of mere luck...

Bosss I thing U were joking when u made the statement "You do see shades of the Hindi remake, but it has Shankar's touches as well."

Be realistic, every frame of the movie is an exact copy of 3 idiots. Except for the belly dancing song, which wasnt there in the original, and I believe was included here purely for titilation purpose!!! Otherwise every scene was an exact copy to the extent of minor actions by the characters and even the dressing style of Vijay in climax was copied as is from 3 idiots...

Sorry to say this Shankar, I believe any director worth his salt could have done this, if it was just copying as is!!!

Why so miserly?
by Sudarsan on Jan 12, 2012 10:40 PM

A good review, and yet only 3 stars? Even a sensible critic can rate films 4 out of 5. Its not necessary that being sensible means giving low rating for good films.

I would like to see atleast one originial movie from your esteemed Brain..You were riding behind the brains of Sujatha, Balakumaran to give hits like Gentleman, Indian, Enthiran, Anniyan...now you went for remakes with Nanban,,.And your shit films were Kadhalan and Boys...which were your own stuff..you spend richly when others are producing films, you will paint the entire street, paint the fat bellys of dancers, spend lavishly on locations and graphics, but in your own production house, you were stingy to say the least...atleast you should be appreciated for developing the likes of Vasantabalan and chimbudevan...please use ur brains atleast once without depending on others.....

Well mr.Albert Alwin...if i had chosen my career in film industry, who knows, i would have been a better director/actor...u didnt understrand my point..shankar just does man management..all the brain behind his successsful movies was Sujatha...and mind you this is not advice..this is just my point of view..that Shankar doesnt deserve all the hype...

direction is all abt man management and tat s wat shankar is gud at...many films with big budget didnt have the same production values as a shankar film has...tat s bcos not all people can do wonders if u hnd them a hefty sum....and also undestand tat a movie is not a induvidual directors effort but a team effort with director as their leader...

again...you dont understand the point...if shankar can convey a message in a simple cost free way (like veyil, kadhal etc) why is he spending crores of rupees just for a single song...which is anyway worthless..whats the need of that andangakka song in anniyan??and its not a team effrort in shankar's case...team;s do work and this guy takes credit...
