Just because they showed poverty and farmer suicides like a typical award winning film, they thought they will get a nomination. The Academy is too smart to fall for these tricks and they can see right through insincere films which are made just to get awards.

Every year, only films from Bollywood are selected for Oscar nominations.Why not from south? Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu are producing good art movies. This is a clear disparity from Delhiwallas.
It is a stunning film which compells us to introspect!Besides, this is a film which exposes our sensational mongering media and fake policies and aids for people struggling below povery line. The beauty of the film lies in its presentation. Oskar jury is too immature to understand these intricacies prevailing in our society.
AFTER SEEING THE MOVIE DID ANYTHIG HAPPEN WORTHWHILE FOR THE FARMERS. NOTHING. THEN WHY CRIB FOR AN AWARD. WHEN THE SO CALLED DUDS-LEADERS ARE NOT INTERESTED IN DOING ANYTHING THEN WHY DOES AAMIR AND HIS WIFE FEEL BAD.
India has a super large film market. Instead of trying to test ourselves against Western standards, we should have our own standards to judge our films. Forget Oscars!

absolutely wrong , on the contrary..OSCAR will get a RAJNIKANT next year for holding such an award function
Udaan was definitly Oscar worthy,Rajneeti no way,i dont think Rajneeti can even be considered ,Peepli Live was fine,in my opinion Udaan was a great movie and one of the finest ,probably if India had chosen Udaan over Peepli Live they might have had a chance.

I really dont understand why Aamirs movies are pushed for the oscars,it happened with lagaan,then tare zamin par and now Peepli live,as if no other Indian film was better,all these movies are good ,but definitly not oscar worthy...Aamir is too overconfident
