How do you define "one of the biggest hits", especially for a person who has so many decades of singing career?????

In any case, I think DDLJ songs are dowen there in the dumps... cheesy and plastic... Especially when compared to the kind of work Lata had one in her career.

perhaps u dnt knw that in a poll by BBC, ddlj ws selected as best music hindi album of all time. no doubt many films hv better music than ddlj bt post 90's ddlj is definitely among the best.

Popularity of a song is not the biggest criterion to determine its greatness. If so, then Himesh Reshammiya should be one of the best composers of all time.

If you read the beginning you will know that rediff has listed 14 of the 28 names that were published.

You mean Rediff skipped those names on purpose? Or the names I mentioned are ACTUALLY in her list?

I have not seen the calender, so cannot comment on either, but knowing Lata( i.e the public figure that she always puts up), she will not put a foot wrong in public......
So, she must have mentioned all the famous names.
Don't you think the likes of Burman, Biswas, Ravi, SJ etc would be missed even when another 14 slots are there...Unlikely

You are a fine actor Mr. Hangal. The numerous character you played will go down the history of Hindi films as landmark. Hats off to you. You are a freedom fighter too, if I am not mistaken.

I agree Sir. You are timeless, evergreen actor. Your looks never change. You have been playing old man since you were born. Kudos
How can she miss composition like neel gagan ki chahome, javore jogi in Amrapali, Aji root kar & Bedardi balama in Arzoo and Sayonara in Love in Tokyo etc composed by music greats Shankar Jaikishan. SJ are responsible like LPs t place her on top in Bollywood music in 60s & 70s.

May be you are a Bengali. I appreciate your love for RD & Kishore Da who are from your State but we can not accept what you said. Madan Mohan stands first and Laxmikant Pyarelal second in promoting Lata's voice. RD's songs are good but surely not best. Similarly Rafi is equally good in singing and Rafi is more talented among two as his voice suited more heros than Kishores.

Mr Nayak. Do you have any issues against Bengalis. Sun t has the right to express his opinion just like you have. Does it matter that he is a bengali or not. He did not compare Kishore to anyone. Going by your logic, it's obvious that being a Marathi, you are pro lata mangeshkar and laxmikant

RD is not basically from Bengal.. he is from royal family of Tripura.. Who is better and who is best is on own perception, but then if you judge by no of songs getting broadcasted, remixed RD is the winner amongst the lot..
I don't think this is a list of her favourite MDs. Nowhere has she said that. She has only commented on some famous MDs of her time. Otherwise she would not have missed Anil Biswas -- virtually her guru in Bollywood, Shankar Jaikishen, Husanlal Bhagatram and S D Burman, and not placed Salilda so low in the list.

Was he a great MD? I love his voice and some of the songs he composed. But can we place him among the best? I wouldn't.
Re: COMPOSER
by Harish Menon on Jan 07, 2011 02:31 PM
He was good. No doubt. But let's give him an unnecessary superlative status. There were may others eligible for such eulogies.
I always give respect to LATA but noit now onwards she is realy always politically active and had a vengeance.SHANKER JAIKISHAN S D BURMAN KALYAN ANAND JI is the name which is missed by this bad lady
Re: lost respect
by Sheetal Kaur on Jan 09, 2011 04:35 AM
It is not the matter of who she worked and who gave the best hits. It is matter of personal relation whit musicians she worked. May be SHANKER JAIKISHAN S D BURMAN KALYAN ANAND did not hold any significant in her life other then just singing their songs.
