It is wonderfull looking back than, that the depth of the so called artists with Muslim names, they didnt grew beards and talked of the injustice etc. The fact is they were simple people living a simple and rich life, if only todays muslims can understand that and stop going to madarassas and growing beareds the renisance for these people is just around the corner.
Fundamentalism or even over religious ness will totally finish of these populations.
Infact it is said that it was because of the Aryan Suprimacy factor of WW2, that so many whites were killed that it brought in Blacks stongly in the US, history always repeats !!!

Lataji's class and the perfection of her singing is the reason she was the most venerated female playback singer in Indian films. The others you mention are also very accomplished singers, no doubt, but they themselves will tell you of their status compared to Lata Mangeshkar. You are obviously of the 'bollywood' generation, and don't know class when you witness it.

Who the heck are sunidhi and shreya ghoshal, never heard of them. Where as LATA isinternational acclaimed and Guinness book of record holder. The other two are no where near it.
If you look at her list, you will notice that she mentions musicians who are influcenced by hindustani classical and most of them were reasonably orthodox. Ilayaraaja was a genius whose strength was western classical and his fusion combined western classical with carnatic classical ! Too much for our poor lady to handle I am sure ! Nevermind what our self proclaimed bollywood greats think of her - she was just an average singer. A case of being in the right place at the right time. Asha was a far more versatile and exciting singer in my ( and in many others) opinion.

Ilayaraja doesn't have any hit song nationaly which has become popular all over India!!!...Also lifting tunes are concerned I can list songs which ilayaraja lifted directly from english,Hindi & other languages!!!...For expample Akkarai Seemai song from Priya was directly lifted from kites..similarly darling darling song was lifted from BoneyM's Sunny Sunny...

Ilayaraaja is a legend he don't need any ones reorganizations for this...may be Lathaji has given this interview based on the Hindi songs and Ilayaraaja has played very few Hindi movies songs...
Apart from his movie hits Ilayaraaja's composition on symphony of the great 4th century Lord Shiva's mantra is a gem and he has done this recently in his old age...

yeah she has chosen them not to make you happy. just because you think llayaraaja is a great composer(he may indeed be)is not the reason to be on the list. It's her choice and whom she has worked with.

oh comon guys this is too much...this is typical reply from southies who donest like her...this is the list of the music composer with who she has worked with...she has not mentioned SD Burman as well...how many southern singers mentions Khayyam, Naushad, LP and RD in their columns...dont be narrow minded here. she is a great singer and you cant deny that..dont be jealous of her...

its lata not latha. first spell the name correctly. she is great and its her decision to chose. she is talking about her favourite not selecting your favourites or trying to please all regions of india. its not politics that she has to please dumb idiots like you
I feel sad that you have omitted Shankar-Jaikishan, whom Lata picked first in her calendar. Shankar-Jaikishan brought the best out of Lata and Lata on many occassions ( you can check Rediff interviews itself a few years ago ) has made it clear.
You journalists are real punks for omitting SJ, whom lata has picked first in her calendar list. Lata owes a lot to Shankar-Jaikishan for her success. Please publish all facts
All the people who have complained about SD Burman and Illaya Raja missing should understand that SD was a tune thief like his son RD and Illaya Raja wasn't a musician at all as he made noise not music by striking empty utensils together!

Hindi film music is just copy. Ilayaraja was much greater and Hindi mds copied him every once a while otherwise they stunk.
