Honour this man, through deeds:Remaster & restore his films o
by MarkinAustralia on Aug 17, 2011 03:36 AM

Bless you Dear Shammi Kapoor.
On a practical note amidst a sea of levity, & admiration, honour this man, through deeds; Remaster & restore his films on DVD.
Notorious example: A masterpiece like Teesri Manzil has about ½ hour is missing from the DVD.
That’s a mini remastering project. It’s a micro project!
Is there 1 Indian journalist or participant in the Indian film industry, 1 industrialist looking to do worthy acts, a professional acquaintance or family willing to run with this?
Indian film is a cutting edge art form, it has an incredible tradition. Teesri Manzil is a true classic.
Get serious & honour it.
To live on so brightly through his marvellous work is really wonderful. 2 generations of my family discovered Shammi’s work. For us he is by far our favourite onscreen talent from any film industry at any time. That presence is so funny, so full of grace & that artistic freshness is still so vibrant, & of Now, in a way most Stuff today is certainly not. Like all great art, he took many traditions & inspirations, but then made something wonderful of it.
Get serious & honour it.

Tribute

For the Indore people reading this column.

It is shocking to see cows in herds occupying the main roads of Indore. This is not only hazardous to the vehicle drivers but the animals get injured and they are left bleeding on the roads. Are the people living in Indore totally unconcerned with this inhuman state of affairs in the biggest town of M.P.? Are there no social organizations to take care of these animals. Think about the bleeding animals. Are the Indore people just two legged animals without heart ?

Rafi and Shammi
by LOL on Aug 15, 2011 11:14 AM

Great pair ever in Indian cinema! Truly 60s were the golden period of Indian melodies and Shammi and Rafi combo has a great part to play in that. Its amazing that more than 90% of Shammi's songs were by Rafi even in the early 50s when Rafi was still not as popular

Truly a great combo and we lost both of them now.

RIP Shammiji. He was a 'hatke' actor in his times. Had his own style.

That apart, the entire Kapoor clan is know to be 'boozards'. Was Shammiji one of them ?

Yes, he himself confesses in hi9s interviews. I have met him last year and asked him the same question. His answer was simply a nod, and said- Of course! You think I'm different??
