Normally a movie/serial based on a famous novel could never match the original. I find Malgudi Days is the only exception to this rule. That is purely because of the brilliant direction of Shankar Nag. I've always wondered why he didn't directed more serial/films...didn't knew about his untimely death...definitely a colossal loss...may his soul rest in peace.
Shankar was the only actor who could entiertain both mass and class simultaneously. I respect him more as a director than an actor. But as a visionary, he was superb. If he was alive today things in Kannada film industry would have been far more better and I without any hesitation say, people would have looked at Kannada films with awe

all his movies were timepass movies except few..heard that he hasent given any megablockbuster.
