Contrary to his film themes, black economy is thriving every time shankar's film releases. In Tamilnadu tickets sold @ Rs.300 in II tier cities and Rs.1000 per ticket at Chennai theatres thro 2nd channals and not in box office counters.
When rice is sold @ Rs.1 per Kg in ration shops across tamilnadu with the cost of a Shankar / Rajini film ticket one can feed his family for a month.
He just gives old upma in new packet. He can not make a comedy movie or love story. He makes film where hero takes on corruption. gentleman, indian, anniyan, sivaji are all alike

Boyz flopped and got negative reviews. Kaadhalan was a hit bcoz of Prabhu deva's song Muquabala and A R Rahman's music.

The theme might be same, but everytime it was well presented and audience are mesmerized by the way each film is shot. That spectacular presentation is only from Shankar and no one else.
