This guy Kashyap has completely lost his sense. He married Kalki, a white-skinned girl only because he wanted to make these sleazy semipr0n movies. He should move to Hollywood and get into it full time.

Or it could be that for his kind of mental make up and films that he chose to make..he fancied Kalki to be his partner both in real and reel life

spot on. Nowadays, white/fair skinned girls in India live with guys who are obsessed with money or sex or violence.

u fools..if she wanted money she would have hit on K Jo rather than AK... similarly if AK wanted money he could have made Dev.D 2 rather than this one...
Anurag Kashyap- one of the best film makers of recent times.. He along with Dibakar Banerjee & Vishal BHardwaj have the capability to make films that are truly diffrent with depths and symbolism that can beat best of International cinema

Time to overhaul your list. Hrishida, Bimal Roy and Gulzar are in there for the right reasons. Though I fail to understand how Yash Chopra, Ramesh Sippi, Manmohan Desai and Prakash Mehra managed to get in and that too, above Gulzar. We definitely have the likes of Vishal Bhardwaj, Mani Ratnam and Anurag Kashyap to be in there and those formula film-makers to be out of that list.

Shimit Amin has made 3 movies so far, all of them have gathered enough critical and mass acclaim (latter one mostly for Chak De). He surely doesn't deserve a place in an all time list at this stage, but this guy is definitely someone to watch out for.

yeah i missed guru dutt n vijay anand. they definitely deserve to be in topmost directors of all time. n i hv nt only heard the names of great directors bt seen their movies too-
Wish we had more of TGIYB and less of crap like Dabangg. It is sickening to see our national channels go ga ga over what is at best a B-Grade masala movie. Indian Cinema takes one forward step with LSD and goes back 10 steps with a no-brainer like Dabangg

I am sure the excitement is just to watch a few particular scenes which were unfortunately missing in Dabangg! You seem to be excited by only movies like LSD, TGYIB, Dev D, the common thread is visible which you are hiding under the pretention of being a fan of modern cinema!

Incidentally we all have to understand we are made to watch whatever the film wallahs are selling us at that point of time and market craze
It is the truth but to what % you can decide, if not please post your views

Movie business is not much different than any other business. It follows the law of demand and supply. Movie makers make what can sell. It surely is an art form But making a movie is huge investment so economics dominates art. Film wallah will always make what they can sell. Karan Johar will make "We Are Family" because he think he can sell it to NRI and urban Indians. Arbaaz Khan makes Dababgg because he can sell it to tier II tier III city. To his luck and slick marketing he is able to stuck chord with urban folks too. Else Dabangg would have been in the line of countless movies Mithun made in mid 90's ( All of them made money) to cater rular India.
My view Movies are not Food. We don't need to see movies. If we get entertained by movies that stimulate brain cells and if their is enough market for it some film maker would be smart enough to capture that market.
In my opinion I don't really care about status of Indian cinema , I care about my hard earned money and if I spent Rs 200 on a movie I would like to get entertained .. Dabbang entertained me so I made good investment on my self. " I hate love story" was bad investment ... and I never see Karan Johar's movie because I know they are bad investment for me.
