masterchef india
by Shobha Kamath on Oct 31, 2010 05:07 PM

disappointing..to say the least. too much about participants and rona dhona rather than focusing on the food and dishes.. it is supposed to be a cookery competition, not a platform for sob stories and overflow of emotions... guys get professional. esp the anchor.

"Masterchef" India? Are you kidding me?
by leslin dsouza on Oct 25, 2010 08:13 PM  | Hide replies

I am a huge fan of MC Australia..I really wish MC India had never been made.Honestly speaking, just seeing the initial trailers of the show, I was so disappointed that I can never bring myself to actually watching the show on TV!!It sounds so cheap and mediocre, to say the least..when they made a show on the lines of Masterchef, they should have at least researched a little bit. Just see the class and the respect with which the MC Australia judges treat the contestants..and see this show..I feel like crying everytime I see the trailers of MC India..Really wish it had never been made..

And another surprising thing is..I guess they didn't get a good chef in the whole of India that they had to choose Akshay and the other 2..Whereas we have the likes of Tarla Dalal, Sanjeev Kapoor, and so many more great chefs in India..Really sad and very disappointing..

I know exactly what you mean. I love Masterchef Australia and don't even miss one episode of it. I was so looking foward to Masterchef India becuase I thought I might actually learn a few tips on Indian food and thought the Masterclass would be amazing.
But the Indian version is just rubbish and does not even merit a watch.I feel embarassed to see it, especially as it seems like a bollywood drama with aishwarya rai, the kapoors in it rather than any proper cooking.
the contestants seem to be just doing it for the tv too. There is no love, passion, excitment or plans about their cooking. They never talk about what they want to do if they win masterchef or how masterchef's helping them. I guess they are just doing it for the money.
Exactly, we dont even know the other two chefs and they have just no tv presence or personality. We have so many good chefs who could have the show so much better...and what about food critics, they dont seem to exist in the Indian industry it seems.
Its a shameful show and dont see myself seeing any more of this waste of time.

Well, i would second Leslin D'souza. i was also expecting Sanjeev kappor or Tarla Dalal to be the main host.Bring Akshay as host has become too filmy and disappointing...frankly speaking the show has only filmy flavors than any Kitchen/cooking flavors. My husband and me where very excited to see this programs, but now we have decided not to see this any more... its just a waste of time.

This show could become a great show if the filmy & drama part is replaced with professionalism and also having hosts who actually are experts in this field.

Masterchef India or Mastercook Punjabi?
by skn on Oct 21, 2010 12:00 PM  | Hide replies

I am a huge fan of MC Australia. Also loved MC New Zealand. While I have been a regular watcher of Top Chef, it has never been my fav. After watching first two eps of MC India, I have to say they make top chef look good, and btw, changing the name of MC India to "Mastercook Punjabi" may be something producers may want to seriously think about!

ha ha. agree with u totally. and in the first show, akshay kept saying "hindustan", "hindustan". does hindustan consist of only those few cities they picked the contestants from. sick show. this will turn out to be a filmy show.

It is a different Subject ! Public likes the show sp. ladies
by Indian on Oct 19, 2010 04:01 PM  | Hide replies

Show is super HIT concerning every family's basic concern i.e. FOOD and batter then BIG BOSS 4 noncence.
Raters are free to give any sort of individualised rating ( as it is their own openion ) but we Indians watch the show and form our own rating.
According to many of us Good luck to Akshay, STAR TV and
BULLSHEEET to the rater who it seems does not know how much pain goes to present this type of show and also mach it with the INDIAN taste

Agreed a lot of hard work goes in shows like that. But, that is not enough. They need to work harder to make the show better. We pay for the show. We should get what we deserve, and we deserve better

Its a Star Plus Show
by Mia on Oct 19, 2010 02:58 PM  | Hide replies

Its a show on Star Plus!! what more can you expect other than rona dhona. Any other channel and I would have expected something else. But Star Plus is the typical old aunties channel who were used to Saas and Bahu stories but need something silly, loud and crappy like this to cry about now.

Nonsense...
by Vinay Singh on Oct 18, 2010 09:15 PM

It was too much of rona dhona.....looked like a typical saas bahu serial!!! Akshay acted like a superstar with little humility and behaved like those actors who come on TV for promotion of their movies!! In any case, Akshay kumar is not a superstar as far a fan following goes!!!
