Most of the Hollywood movies are bakwas
by Shri Hegde on May 25, 2010 11:35 AM

as they are about some alien invasion, end of the world, vampire tale, animal animation crap. Bollywood movies at least have real people with real story.

Hrithik is too good in the movie in all aspects, acting, dance, handsome, etc. Great Performance from him.

Kites is a brave experiment to penetrate west audience beyond NRI

Kites is a brave experiment to penetrate west audience beyond NRI's.
Normally Hollywood movies also don't have any stories only stunning stunts scenes, cinematography and special effects makes movie Hit. Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori is impressive. Very good effort as compare Hollywood Movies.
1. Shrek Forever - No Story only Animation
2. Iron Man 2 - No Story only superhero fighting with evils.

yep agree with you on the above also note as we are more globalized and interact more love stories also will move borders and cultures and this is kites show it is a romantic movie set in USA and Mexico and shot well .No need of adding more spice to the story, the lead pair get chased by elements that do not want them unite and a true love will always take priority over and this is what shown in the movie.I felt refreshed and relaxed watching the movie.Iam mulling about watching it again a month after perhaps

You don't watch Hollywood movies much, that's why you don't know. Watch drama and you will know. Dark Knight has everything-I recommend you to watch it

Are you nuts? How can you even compare a Bollywood with a Hollywood movies? Do you know how much talent it needed to create animation? Even if you don't like animation or action movies, then watch Forrest Gump, Shawshank redemption, a walk to remember, a beautiful mind and these are only few of the huge list of great Hollywood movies. Why don't you come up with even 10 original Indian movies?

To add few points if u make a movie like AVATAR in bollywood where is the audience... They wont believe much in science fiction.... If dancing around the tree is not something usual 3 girls saving the human from evil is equally hypothetical

Guys
Kal ho na ho also took time to catch up in India ,kites will pickup in the next following weeks it will be slow but will gain momentum in India ,any love story that is true and fresh has always been appreciated by indian audiences say for example : Kamal Hassan Ek Duje ke Liya (love between tamil guy and north indian girl ) was a big hit ,similarly Bobby (Rishi kappor falls in love with Dimple(Goa Christian catholic family)was a big hit ,so do Seethakoka Chiluka( a south indian telugu/tamil movie) was a big hit (again love between a rich landlord duaghter and poor peasant) Iam sure Indians are aware of other regions in the world (expousre by tourists arriving in rajasthan etc) .
So defintely Kites will fare better in the coming following weeks ,it will collect good money in metros(Mumbai,Hyderabad,Delhi ,Bangalore,KOlkota ) and samll towns ,rural india it will be an average fare overall still it will be a hit in India this itself will get good collection money.Guys take a break and see the movie I know India had a long hot summer go see this movie it is fresh refreshing and will relax you .I saw anurag basus Metro and this movie both are well made movies .Do not worry about the critics here

Hi Zahed,
Kites got huge opening nd is 2nd in terms of weekend collection nd raked around 31crore...But as reports r nt gud collection drops significantly on sat but picked up on sunday.....But by seeing the mouth publicity its going to be very tough for KITES to recover its cost....It may be end up with 50-55 crore mark.

Roopal Vaish
Kites, the movie
by Roopal Vaish on May 25, 2010 04:02 AM  | Hide replies

What nobody has yet realized is that Kites was not really made for India. It was made to butt-head the wall that separates the English and other foreign language films in US and other territories from the Bollywood films. And boy, is Kites breaking that wall in style! What the Indian public found tepid, the Americans are finding hot like Habanero pepper; what the Indians find dull, they are finding larger than life. And the way the ladies and the critics here are drooling over Hrithik has to be seen to be believed. Indians are saying the action scenes are slick, here they are saying they are preposterous. Indians are saying the story is non-existent, the Americans are finding the story touching and timeless. The Indians are feeling let down, the Americans are bedazzled by a movie that can be hot without sex. This difference in perspective should give you an idea why Bollywood films, no matter how good we find some of them, have never really broken the language barrier here. But Kites is doing that, and in style. The Americans are finding it very 'Indian', with an international flavor that appeals to them. So yes, the Roshans did do their homework properly.

So before you rue the money you spent watching Kites, a Bollywood movie, just think that what you really saw was Hollywood trying to be desi. You might find it easier to digest then.

Hi Roopal
Kites is a perfect crossover film putting more story will drag it down necessary morover the love story is based in USA and Mexico so according to the local the storyline is based obviously .So without any reservtions Love, emotions and urge to live and have a better life is same whether it is Africa,Gulf ,Asia ,Americas ,Australia .Tajmahal ,Eiefel tower in paris are all vistited by all couples alike from all over the world .This is a romatic film shot and made wonderfully .Both the lead actors has done a good acting performance.
