A really bad movie moving in slow motion. Babra and hrthick look extremely good and that is all about it. I felt so bad for hrthick, wish him all the good luck. he is really a nice human being !
Guys, I am in US and watched the evening show of KITES. Not only Indians but plenty of AMERICANS too were visibly excited and happy about movie. While having coffee outside theatre 2 couples joined me and my husband and said your BOLLYWOOD actor is better than any of HOLLYWOOD one. They liked movie very much and Hritik and Barbara too.
It's very good movie, don't beleive below comments, movie is really pulling very good crowd here and same reports I got from other part of US through my friends as well.
GO FOR THIS MOVIE, MISSING IT WILL BE FOOLISHNESS. IT'S 100 TIMES BETTER THAN MNIK.

horrible movie! watched it yesterday. It was pain sitting in the hall for 2 plus hours. Barbara is average,knows only to smile all the time.Bollyward heroines are head and shoulders above her. My kids wanted to see it desperately and hated it. They still gush about Munnabhai and 3 idiots.Please avoid it if you can.........

This Kites movie has interntional story not the usual Johar/Yahs cliche stories. I am surprised even the Indian media Critics could not review the movie properly.
May be this movie is for more matured Movie audiences.
3 idiots will apply to India only as Indian Parents suppress their dreams.
Friends, I watch Kites Yesterday online, even the print was not good but i feel Kites is a good feel story. Only end was not good...and some overacting by Hritik Roshan...story was not new but its good still...Barbara Mori did a very good job in her first Hindi movie...like Asin did in Gajini...Kites is a one time watch must movie...i enjoy it...the subject is very good...how 2 people fall in love without understanding their language...its by heart...Sirf Tum was another movie long time back that is different from the usual love story and was a very good movie too...
Even though Kites has got bad reviews I have decided to go for the movie today but its not only about critics even common public has not liked it. Halls were almost empty today.
As far as above news is concerned it has made 4 crore from North America, whats the big deal. In other International market it has not been able to accumulate 20 crore. 3 Idiots and Mnik has grossed 40 crore in the first weekend from international market.
Distributers right has been SOLD FOR 150 CRORE and the movie have to make 270 crore of business. In india it hardly seems to achieve even 60 crore.

Highly agreed. PPl in India sometimes rave movies like this just to prove that they are classes.

MNIK was a very lousy movie. It was watched by all in a particular community. That's y it made that kind of money
Kites was made to launch Hwrithik in International market. Its like launching your product in international market regardless the likeness of Indian public. What Kites earn in India is bonus for PAPA Roshan .
This movie is not for desis who like to watch the leads running around the trees. Khan's will buy all desi media house reviews to make their movies run. New York Times, L.A. Times etc are not fools. I am happy that alteast one indian movie had made it to top 10 in US. I am sure all the kites haters did not like slum dog millionair either. As Hritik said "Expect pasta not Biryani". Don't go by ranking. Go by figures. The figure of $950K is not even half of what 3idiots ($1.9 million) and MNIK ($2.1 million) made in 1st weekend. Anyway there are not many big films running in US at this time. Yesterday I saw this movie in DC, there were about 23 people in the theatre for Sunday night show.

I'm living in US too...Did you ever see any White people to watch the Hindi movies...I hope you Never saw...and will never see...because they have their own world...In US or UK only Asian (mainly Indians) go for Hindi Movies dear....

Got your point. But the article of top 10 in US is confusing readers. Actually it's performance is pretty bad for Hrithik movie in it's 1st weekend as the figures are very low as compared to 3I and MNIK. It is getting appreciation from US media but people here (Indians) have rejected it.
kites is not upto the mark. Action scenes are well made but tough to imagine chasing,bank robbery and overtaking US cops so easily..funny though! Can watch once for HR n Barbara..
