No doubt AT is a Realistic film . But friends the director should've been stern enough to let the BGM and songs to be more 'in place' . The film wants to be realistic . When in reality , just like Madhur Bandarkar's movies (except 'Chandini Bar') , it falls short of potraying reality in its rustic royal raw form . I loved VEYIL . It was Raw . But AT , is just passsable , and can come no way near Vasanthabalan's debut , Veyil . The Actors save the movie . Completely . Starting from the foot-fighting scenes to the scene at the Godown (where Kani gets her first smack in the film) right upto the tear-wrenching scene where Selvarani commits suicide , the actors are the saviours of this film . In particular , those often missed supporting characters - Selvarani , Marimuthu , Annachi (the owner ! yes , he was brilliant) and the unforgettable Karungaali ! The actors deserve all the praise that one showers on the director . To put out a bold face , to daringly step into the crises of Life , to smilingly take up all the daunting trials of the day , to Live with Dignity Kani and her friends will always be our teachers .
But the fact remains , it could've been better , with the same cast !
this movie is over rated..sentiments is substandard..scenes are exaggerated....can never say its a class..with all due respect to vasanthabalan, this isnt a realistic movie..this is just an exaggerated thing with over sentiments targeting family audience..and guys, pls dont compare this movie with vtv coz d genre r different

Guys for those innocent about ranganathan street. This is the real story that is happening in the big shops there. Their life is pathetic. Saravana stores has the most number of employees.

OK da mallu, VTV is a crap movie there is no essence in it, that director is living with the help of AR Rahman music, he can direct only a sakila movies...
What a fabulous, fantastic and realistic movie in tamil movie history. No word to praise the director Vasandhabalan, his extreme homework and bringing us into real situation was speachless. Please keep this as milestone in tamil movie venture and all other who makes commercial movies look out it and atleast make a single movie in a year like this.

Dialogues which the blind old man tells keep getting repeated in the ears "Vikka Therinchavan thaan vazha therinchavan"(People who can sell only know how to live) Mannushankalai nambi kadi potten 30 varusama entha kuraiyum illai(I opened this shop trusting the humans which is so good for me for the past 30 years) These dialogues to be applauded rather than having dialogues in VTV like Hate you"Thank you"
It was one of THE BEST tamil movie i have ever seen recently. some may say some scenes are exagerrated it is not true because some tamil directors have created an illusion that life is rosy but it is not true, when people see something raw and real they say it is exagerated. Angadi theru is a brilliant movie excellent direction, story and performance by actots.There are many scene in the movie which would leave a tear or two in viewers eyes.Vasanthabalan and anjali are most eligible persons for awards.Please watch this movie in theatres with your friends and not in DVD iam sure you will see life in a different light after seeing this movie.

I really dont understand why people have created a big hype for VTV.offcourse that movie is accepted just for the sake of AR Rahman,the oscar winner. But apart from that,do you guys think the movie will go through any awards? Definitely not.
Gautam Menon is trying to induce his keralite culture in every movie, but I am sure it will never work out in front of Classical Tamil cults like Andagi Theru.
Gautam might have satisfied the A centre Audiences, but thats not the same case with B & C Centre Audiences. Most of them could not even understand the storyline in his movie.
I think Its high time for Gautam to consider about the True Tamil traditions & culture in his future movies or else he will find no place in the hearts of B & C Centre Audiences.
