don't watch it, waste of time money and energy
by anu sharan on Jun 20, 2010 01:28 PM  | Hide replies

All movie halls in delhi having just 15-20% occupancy.
One of the biggest FLOPS of 2010, even worse than KITES, please don't see wasting ur time money and energy, better go and watch karte kid and Shutter Island instead, or even Rajneeti.
Mani Ratnams worst movie of all times, Abhishek is just scrap, and Vikram doesn't impresses in Bollywood, not even a glimpse of what he gave in his south movies, ash looks beautiful but the movie lacks story, just felt as if watching a improved version of earlier movies like Jungle and Safari. AShutosh Rana or Manoj Bajpai would have been better choice of Beera.
All in all a waste of TIME.

is this mani's movie??
by Shankho Ghosh on Jun 20, 2010 01:19 PM

I think this film is made by Santosh Sivan (cinematographer of Raavan). Technically this film is fabulous. But this movie is nothing but a documentry of some untraced exotic places of Kerala. Acting, screenplay is bull shit. Most boring pic I've ever seen. Abhishek Bachchan was pathtic, melodramatically bad!! This type of psycho character could be properly justified by Nana Patekar or might be Akhsay Kumar (if some money gainer hero needed). Bakwas film!!!

MAJOR FLOP OF THE YEAR : RAAVAN
by okroal on Jun 20, 2010 11:23 AM

MANI RATNAM MUST BE CONTRACTED FOR LIFE TERM BY BACHANS AND AMBANI TO MAKE MOVIE ONLY WITH ABHI SHAKE IN LEAD .... IN SINGLE SCREEN THEATER TODAY 10.15 MATINÉE SHOW .... NOT EVEN 20 % BOOKING ..... YESTERDAY I WATCHED THE MOVIE .... WHAT A SERIOUS CRAP MOVIE IS THIS ?? .. WORST MOVIE OF MANI RATNAM ... JUST BCOZ .... BEERA SIS WAS RAPED BY POLICEMEN ... HE CAN NOT GET SYMPATHY .... ABHI SHAKE NOT AT ALL ABLE TO GIVE JUSTICE TO BEERA ... ASHUTOSH RANA WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER CHOICE ... INFACT SCRIPT IS TOO BAD .... THEY SPENT ALL MONEY ON LOCATIONS AND STUNTS BY ABHI, AISH & VIKRAM ... CINEMATOGRAPHY IS GOOD ...JUST LIKE ""EARTH SERIES ON DISCOVERY CHANNEL "" .... MUSIC IS OK ... BEST SONG RANJHA RANJHA IS NOT PRESENT IN MOVIE ... AS THIS SONG DOES NOT HAVE SITUATION ANYWHERE IN MOVIE ... ALL IN ALL ..JUST A EYE CANDY MOVIE ... ONLY STYLE ..NO SUBSTANCE ... IT IS ONE OF THE MAJOR FLOP OF THE YEAR AFTER DISASTROUS KITES ..

Mani Unites India
by Prabu N on Jun 20, 2010 11:13 AM  | Hide replies

Mani is the only director makes use of India. He uses languages, cultures, places and everything from the whole India, Kashmir to Kanyakumari, kerala, etc.. He explores the beauty within our country.

But some brainless splitters always try to fight for language, state, blah blah blah.

Remember , Splitters will be splitted by themselves. Example is pakistanis. They wanted to split India, and splitted as West and East Pakistan, Still they were splitters, They again splitted themselves as pakistan and bangladesh. Who knows this even continue in to 4.

Junior Bachchan shines in Mani Ratnam's extremely boring take on
by mohit dukle on Jun 20, 2010 01:31 AM

Its a very different film but tires you out most of the time...Locations are delightful and the D.O.P's have done all the justice they could...A.R. Rahman's music is very good...Major problem with this film is that... it bores you with its pace and unusualness...

abhishek is a decent actor but it is impossible for him to come out of the shadow of his legendary father, sadly inspite of good acting in Dostana,Dhoom and Sarkar Raj he is known as Big Bs son and Ashwaryas
hubby...

Feeling cheated by raavan
by sandeep on Jun 19, 2010 07:38 PM  | Hide replies

One more tamil foolish movie. Wasted 150 rs and precious time.Once again i really feel cheated for the bloody hype. This has happened for the 4th time . First it was shivaji then dashvataram then bheema and now ravan.

Its hightime people especially tamil folks wake up to the tactics of our stupid tamil film industry. They are hyping stupid movies and fooling all of us again and again.

They have restricted all other language movies and are forcing tamil people to watch only these crazy movies.
All foolish tamil movies are becoming superhit for namesake because of no competition and not because of any greatness.Since all other language movies are restricted our people have no choice other than to watch these crap tamil movies.
This, our folks are projecting as a strength by our self declared legends in tamil filmland who are basically there to fool tamil public.

It outright stupidity of our people to keep supporting this idiotic legends and in the process our theaters are going bankraupt.

Time has come to open for competion in tamilnadu. We cannot be eating rice sambar all along and all other state people enjoy good movies from everywhere.
Competion can only improve things in kollywood.

Sandeep, I can feel your hatred for Tamils. You can use the freedom of expression, but you can't mislead. Infact Tamil industry is so open that any regional movies can be screened, but it's upto the TN people to decide watching it. Similary it's up to you to decide watching a Tamil movie and you can't blame like a senseless person.

Even in Karnataka there are artificial hits, since other movies are not allowed full release.

Kannadigas have blocked Raavan movie again in Karnataka. Earlier it was Kites.

Please note that In Tamil Nadu other language movies are not blocked like they do in Karnataka.
Tamils are not brainless chauvanists like kannadigas.

This is quite misleading and perverted message.
You didn't like Raavan and it is accepted.
But nobody blocks screening of other language of movies like they do in Karnataka.
Who stops you from enjoying good movies in Tamilnadu, you Idiot?
Many English movies get translated to Tamil and running successfully.
And note that no hype was made in Tamilnadu about Raavan. Hype and expectation was high only in Bollywood.
Just because jealosy and hatred towards Tamil movies for their success has made you write this crap.

Sandeep has been badly ragged by tamilians, so his hatred had spilled out here in this message. He is definitely not a tamilian.

Mr. Sandeep, if you don't like idli sambar, then you can have roti and pyaaz and work at some construction site just as your state fellows in UP and Bihar.

You should know that other language movies are screened in Tamil Nadu. Just open the newspapers and you will see theatres screening movies of all languages. Do they play Tamil movies in UP and Bihar?

my view of raavan
by bharat raghu on Jun 19, 2010 07:32 PM

as a movie it is good and very well made and relates to modern times. but to relate it to ramayana and defaming Rama's and his comrades character and glorifying raavan as robinhood is blashphemious as per me. they should not relate the movie to ramayana, where ram was epitome of goodness and raavan was a tyrant king
