Ravaan is a good film but certainly not Mani Ratnam's best. The first half was tedious with too much time spent on trial and tribulation of Ragini and Veeru's extreme mood swings. The second half seemed to be too hurried and left a few unanswered questions: a) Did Dev deliberately provoke Ragini in the train to get to Veeru ? Or did he really distrust her even after Veeru told him that she loved nobody but Dev? b) In the epic Ramayan Sita undergoes "agni pariksha" because Rama doubted her chastity. Here she is left in a limbo because no body in the audience had any idea what she would do next after Veeru's death. These unanswered questions apart the movie did not have the usual tautness of a Mani Ratnam masterpiece.
Abhishake Bhacchan is a good actor. An actor is actor, neither good nor bad. It is a general perception that he throws in the media that define his image and rest audience make their perception on that Image.
Unfortunately, he is struck in the image of his father and his wife. He never tries to detach from that image. It gives him a lot of mileage but that comes with the baggage of other two images. Thats why it is hard to define him who he is? That is so unfortunate for such a young and talented person.
Yes,,,with RAAVAN the Abhi _Aish have proved themselves again as Handicapped Actingwise. Its a complete timewaste.
The reviewer , I believe is a fresher who gives 4 stars because there are big names attached to it. Need to be bold enough to pen down the truth. Movie review,,why to count the past glories of actors/directors /crew/spot boys.
Movie : Freaking pathetic. Disgusting movie. Bunch of jokers ,,roaming in a jungle jumping around trees, We have seen much nature in NGC/Animal planet. Camera work was impressive though.
Music part is pathetic,Ranjha Ranjha ,,is ok type. Restsongs are shame to the word music.
Rahman --- Please get rid of that typical south indian music. Becomes irritating at times.
Coming to actors,,nothing is new in abhishek bachhan,,apart from his haircut. Oh Yes,,No monolouges wearing fine suits.
Aish-- Hi time realise you are old enough to retire from lead roles.
Mani Ratnam--He may be astory teller,,This time he read the story wrong,,So he narated the story wrong. No moral,,NO learning arc in the movie,
Rediff needs to check about this, unless it has become prone to bootlicking reviews.

I wish I had read your comments before watching the movie. Wasted my money and time... Now my wife has the perfect weapon... Everytime she wants to torture me she plans to play Raavan
This is the worst film of mani ratnam. and who has made this guy (aseem chhabra) a reviewer... It is very clear from the review that he doesn't know ABC of film making. just because it is a mani ratnam film he has given it 4 stars. The film is lacking in content which is the main aspect of film making. no camera work can make a film worth watching if there is no script.
its shame on mani ratnam to give a martyr's name (26/11 hero) to a charecter which is ill treated in this film by removing his hair, showing him nude.is this the repect we give to our our martyr police men.
