I am not sure about that. Both was masters of their art. They had their strengths and weaknesses. I even feel that Kapoor was better because he was also more prolific and successful.

U r wrong, for success Gurudutt never shed the clothes of his heroines. in contrast remember the erotica created through Waheeda's eyes only, fully clothed and covered.

rk was known for his music and show craftmanship...whereas, Guru, was for real cinema for the soul..i miss him:(
Gurudutt was a great actor , producer , director , a nice person and all in all . He was an institution by himself. We miss him and his art ! Gurudutts are born once in a century !
Guru, Dutt, faced a lot of tragedies in life. Each one greater than the other. It was as if they were orchestrated to inspire him, to harness his creativity, to manifest itself on celluloid as timeless masterpieces.
The stark pessimism, the irony of life and the vagaries of human nature was never expressed so beautifully as in his films like Kagaz, ke, Nao,, Pyaasa,, and Sahib, Bibi, aur Ghulam,.
Had he been alive today, Indian Cinema would never had been the same, He would have carved a niche for himself in the international arena, and his films would have made an impression for its honest portrayal of life on reel using amazing techniques of lights and cinematography.
My favourites are Pyasa, Sahib, bibi, aur,Ghulam. I sincerely feel that Guru,Dutt,R D Burman, & O P Nayyar, should never have left us.!
