This man was way ahead of his times, portraying characters which were close to reality, and often giving grey shades to even protagonists, which was unthinkable in those days.

Great cinematography, editing, direction with soulful music by Hemant Kumar /Sachin Dev Burman.....
Guru Dutt, v Shantaram were a couple of directors who are a real treat to watch, and learn.

really, thats news to me i have met some bongs who are happy..and bright:)
Even shyam,benegal,though technically south indian..was greatly influenced by bengal,..ki
Guru Dutt made great movies which depicted world in a very negative manner.He could see even black in Sun which is why he decided to to call quits at peak of his career.i wish he was more positive in thinking.He was a creative director with negative mindset but a poor actor.

His best friend Dev Ananad also advised him against acting.This was one of the reason their relationship fell apart
