This is a very poor statement my friend. If you say there is some pride in working in Bollywood movies, it would be the joke of the millenium. No south actor needs to do that. I can give you atleast 50 movies which was remade in hindi from Tamil. South Indian actors are talented and dedicated but not lucky whereas Bollywood stars are thriving purely on media hype and publicity. Please do not post such silly things here.

Hand to mouth earning! Wow! Please get a life. They often make much bigger money than their counterparts in Hindi films. Fact No.1 is, contrary to popular belief, the most number of films made in India is not in Hindi. Many a times, telugu films alone have outnumbered Hindi films, If you combine all 4 languages, they are at least 3 times larger than Hindi!
Fact No.2 is, many risk-averse North Indian actors for most part want to act in remakes (or copies, as often the credit is never given on screen) of Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam movies, as it is most likely to be a repeat hit (safe bet). From Dilip Kumar & Sanjeev Kumar who acted in the remakes of MGR and Shivaji Ganeshan films to Anil Kapoor and Govinda who owe their existence to Telugu & Tamil films, to Salman, Aamir and John Abraham now.. they have all done it and continue to do so.
Apart from a seemingly larger audience base and some big time hype, Hindi films don't give the South Indian actors anything more. Which is why they are quite happy in their own arena. Do you need a Hollywood movie to showcase the brilliance of Guru Dutt?
The Bottom line is there are good actors and bad actors; handsome actors and ugly actors in both sides. It's a competitive industry and it's about the survival of the fittest or the luckiest or the most manipulative, regardless of Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam or Telugu!

Your comments prove you are narrow minded and poor awareness... remakes of super hit tamil films have become a cropper in Hindi... e.g.Dayavan where the Hindi version concentrated more on vulgarity rather than acting skills.. educated yourself rather than becoming a laughing stock...

kerala, andhra and north india is also from india. whats wrong if there is something better available outside. nothing wrong in outsourcing. none of the heroines grib about language. they do not criticise about tamil language. they know if they go to some other places, they do not expect others to speak hindi. and tamils also do not mind, if they follow their own culture and language, as long as they do their job perfect. please drink those heroine' U.r.ine. you guys will get some knowledge.

True. There are hardly any dark actresses entering the film industry these days, be it any Indian film industry. In Hindi, a dark actor is considered ugly (according to the fair-skin loving Bollywood folks and fans). That's why even the Kajols and Bipashas are airbrushed to look like Goris! The Nandita Das types are never considered heroine material. But the same does not apply to the males. E.g. Ajay Devgan. With a face and skin color like that, will he ever work with a dark heroine in a mainstream film?
This kind of bias is all over India and more so in the North. No wonder fairness creams sell more than any other cosmetic and being fair is an essential qualification in matrimonials!
