Relax guys, the Padma Shri is an award given to Indian citizens to recognize contributions in many fields such as Arts, Education, Industry, Literature, Science, Sports, and Social Service. It is *not* the highest award of any kind, nor is it any sort of a 'lifetime achievement' award. It stands 'fourth' in the hierarchy of civilian awards. Soldiers, Educators, and other hard working people are generally given much higher awards such as the Bharat Ratna, the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Bhushan.
That being said, I do agree with others that Saif and Slumdog may not necessarily be the best deserving recipients of the 2010 edition of these awards. I would have liked more people in Education and Social Sevice get these awards.
I don't understand this award drama anymore. Ridiculous to see the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan award nominees. Where are we heading to? I thik it's an insult to all those people who really care and do things for India and Indians. God help us.

Padma Awards are not drama. It's an honor which recognizes great work an Individual does towards the society.
sad to see entertainers like saif ali khan, Aamir khan , Rekha etc getting such honour when real hard working people get no recognition. where are our priorities
