I think it is time for other Indian musicians and composers to get world wide recognition like Rahman so that Indian music will get elevated to a higher dimension. India rocks and Indian music rocks!

Illyaraja should have learned how to make best out of opportunities .See a silly guy has come so far..legends are still resting and confined to language boundaries

Whatever you say it doesn't matter!! AR Rehman has staying on top for the last 18 years whereas Ilayaraja could stay on No.1 only for 13 years from 1979 to 1992..even you calculate from the year of his debut(1976)it comes only about 16 years...On the other hand Rehman's fame is increasing day by day across the world even after 18 years...This shows Rehman's staying power and acceptability of his music...Ilayaraja's music is mainly confined to tamilnadu and other south indian states!!!..He couldn't taste sucess in Bollywood or internationally even after getting opportunities!!!

Illyaraja is a genius true, but don't undermine the talent of this genius too....

ha ha u are the silly guy.IR is talented but he failed to re invent music according to changing times and hence he was dethroned by rahman long back in tamil
Re: Re: Illyaraja should have learned

ilayaraja didnt get these oppurtunities because his music did not cross the tamil nadu whereas rahmans music has no boundaries.
ir music is regional whereas rahman is global there lies the difference

Hey guys
Illayaraja doesn't advertise himself too much.
rahman is not the global music, he copy the global music and brings it here. Legend is not copying, showing the world with originality.
Illayaraja is the first Asian whose symphony was performed by John Scott of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra which is patronized by Queen Elizabeth and whose president is Lord Yehudi Menuhin.
Even the latest Amitabh Bachchan movie Paa was composed by illayaraja.
