Agreed ilayaraja is talented and has given some good melodies in tamil.but he was not able to cross the border of tamil nadu and was a big failure in bollywood.
whereas rahman has explored all possible genres and took indian music to international level.
raja or no md can be be compared to rahman.

Everything is in character and Rahman is good musician with good heart and humble person which is not case of ilayaraja and hence he has not touched those heights touched by Rahman.
BUT still i like the BGM of Ilayaraja compared to BGM of Rahman

Srinivas, I respect your opinion. But personall I feel, Ilayaraja is better than rehman. But is Rehman greatert I strongly differ, you have sd burman, madan mohan, msv etc.
If you say rehman as the most famous indian musician outside India, I definitely agree.
Why did he have to go to Australia where our Indian brothers are being attacked, abused and even killed?? Is gaining popularity or international recognition more important to Rehman than thinking about all those Indians who have been attacked in Australia??. We all should boycott Australia and teach the Aussies a good lesson

he should have not gone to Australia to perform whether for our people or others when our people are being murdered by australian idiots.We should snap all cultural ties until things regain normalcy.Amitabh was no idiot to refuse the australian honour on the same grounds as above said.

He is the best musician of the country. His music to slumdog millionaire is fabulous. Jay Ho song is the best song by him. He made every Indian proud by performing in Australia.

Australia is country where their forefathers were criminals who were banished from England. We should teach them some love.
