Kandahar can be listed as one of those Mohanlal's commercial flicks which keeps up the promise as an entertainer....It might not be a critically acclaimed flick but its a total entertainment package....

What is an out of shape f-a-t a-s-s like Lal doing portraying an army office?
There was a time in the 80s and 90s when he was the best actor in India, but since 2000 he seems to have forgotten how to act. He is best off doing his c-h-a-d-d-i ads on TV.

Lal ettan has once again successfully been able to don the role of Major Mahadevan.Kandahar is a good entertainer and its good to see such kind of large canvass movie made in malayalam. Had the movie been made in real subtle style it would had certainly appealed to critics but doubt it would have been entertaining as well as patriotic.

Major Mahadevan is shown as an Officer in NSG - and he wears a 20 Years Long service medal, Sena Medal and Chaurya Chakra - any officer serving with these medals will NEVER be a Major in rank - they will least be a Lt Col or a Colonel. So someone has not seen the realities of wearing a ribbon. Also a Gentleman Cadet passing out of Indian Military Academy - cannot become a ' Captain' rank directly and cannot be posted to NSG , unless he completes some years of service. The movie is copied from HBO English Movie 'Taking Chance' where a US Lt Col escorts the Body of L/CPL Chance Phelps, who died in Iraq war. We Indians seldom have originality in making such movies. It is sad.
