Correct even I feel bad that these days awards hold no values. But I would not agree with you that Southies go behind awards. This has however been an exception. Be it Ilayaraja or Naushad or RD.Burman sir,they did not receive even 10% of recognition what Rehman is receiving these days.
he should be nominated for best orginal score not for song. if they neglect him for best orginal score(soundtrack) then its a real mistreat for him. 127 hrs is much much better than social network and inception for its unique style and differents. they should nominate him for orginal score.
So many people in this forum crying that rahman's jai ho is not good and melodious. first of all it is not a melodious song. its fast number. its mainly built for americans in mind. nobody discuss about the background score of slumdog. all r crying for jai ho. can anybody tell that background for slumdog is bad. its one of hte marvelous score. same is 127 hours. its unique and different. for that u people have to listen the background score of social network and inception. then ull feel the difference.

As long as you guys live in a world of illusion,anyone whom you like will seem great and get as many awards as possible. I don't think Hollywood music directors standards have gone down all of a sudden within 2 years. we need to be practical and not naive.
When I heard Micheal Jackson's music pretty much any its freezing my blood.My blood and veins everything in my whole body feels very well.A.R.Rehman's music is good.I dont say its boring.But he has potential to make world class music and unique albums in future.As long as he is not sticking with movies only.Set yourself alone and create music for music.Not for movies.But meanwhile congrats for your Oscar.I somebody call nobody dont go by awards.I am just a music lover.Good luck for real creations.

Nobody is creative as such is the fact. I myself being a South Indian will not accept such kind of baseless comments. There are many examples of getting inspired from western music and putting it in the local flavour.

How come if some one speaks in his mother tongue will be considered as gimmick? ARR spoke in Hindi as well. Don't you remember that? I see your stomach burning by seeing a Tamilian winning. If your mother tongue is Hindi, then keep it with you. We are proud to be tamilian.

if somebody speaks about his culture and motherland in his own language, how will it becomes a gimmick? When Rasool explained about OMKAR there were some fanatics like you who has given a religious shade.
