If Rahman is C-grade, then the rest in the world (barring a few exceptions like Hans Zimmer) are even worser.

ARR is partial. He gives C grade and A grade music depending upon film/director/the exposure he gets. Long ago, he was giving his best in all films, in 90s. But now, he gives good (better from rest) music to those ones which gives him exposure.

Ilayaraja is not at all unlucky. He belongs to Indian soil and Indian music. Oscar is not end of world. You can review the Oscar/grammy songs over the years, they are just cr@p. But ilayaraja's music is evergreen and medicine.
