I have observed that Rediff wants to insult Rafi Sahab this way or that way.Either showing his so called weekness or appreciating others. But if Kishor was great Singer then Rafi is also great. Similarly if Asha is great then lata is also great. Dont compare these greats, no one in the world can sing like these greats. We should be proud tham.

I am an absolute fan of Kishore and there is a reason for that. Once, i had high fever and was very depressed. That day, there was a Kishore special on radio. After 30 minutes, i was not the same guy. I was singing, humming and dancing in joy. That's the kind of effect that Kishore's music has always had on me. He is my god.

Rafi was a great singer, no doubt about it but kishore is the greatest singer India has ever seen.You can check this out if you ask 10 people randomly whom they like more.Kishore was a versatile singer,actor, director,writer,producer,lyricist,musician.Can you name a single person having so many qualities.

Kishore got into fame 10 years after Rafi who was an established singer that time and his singing style literally destroyed Rafi's career as people liked him more than Rafi. Rafi even didn't get songs.This can happen only if audience supports somebody.do you still have a doubt that Indian audience doesn't have the knowledge and taste to decide the better.

Kishor may be greatest artist and more popular than Rafi, but as a singer, he was next to Rafi. He was weak in high notes, weak in typical indial classical music. Rafi had complete command over all forms of music like Kawwali, Gazal, classical etc.

Do you even know what high notes are? Most of Kishore's songs were high pitch and that's precisely why, they were so energetic. You want to sound like someone who has a great understanding of music, but you are actually someone who knows nothing about music.

There was a voting conducted by times of india somewhere in 2003 between three khans and aamir khan got the maximum followed by Salman and then Shahrukh. I hope majority was right. Also, superstar is not a big thing, even one hit film can make a superstar. It's about who ruled for the maximum period. Big B?

@avinash, I have been following this thread and I also adore Kishore Kumar more than Rafi, simply for his versatility. But I do agree with Mukesh when it comes to hitting high notes and the classical stuff, rafi's command was unparallel. We may have individual choices but let's not take away credit from these big maestros who were legends in their own field.
