In his account of the events in the other article, Raju conveniently ignores to mention the fact that Rafi sang the song in question --Jaane kya Dhoondti-- despite being ill and running high fever. Rafi went through the song recording only because he did not want to impact the movie producers. Such was his greatness, and his dedication to the craft. No wonder, most of his contemporaries (with only a few exceptions) regard him as the greatest of all Bollywood singers.
If you search for the term "The Unforgettable Rafi", the article on the internet by this name has a direct quote from Khayyam (the MD for this song) that despite the fever, nobody could have sung the song better than Rafi.
Raju Bharatan is a scoundrel, a moron who assumes and writes any crap. Every good singer would cancel recordings if they had a cold or s sinus problem. What rubbish is this and for God sake dont make a joke of comparing the greatest singing icon, Rafi was any other singer, its simply preposterous and foolish.

Raju is suffering from a mental ailment. I asked Pyarelal of LP about composers asking Rafi to sing like Kishore as Raju says. Pyarelal laughed and said " Everyone wants to sing like Rafi, after Rafi passed away we used to ask his clones to sing like him but in vain". Pyarelal also adds no composer had ignored Rafi in 70, its just that Kishore was at his peak popularity and hence these overrated myths. Rafi is a true legend and a class apart, no female or male singer is even as half as good as him. When he pased away, he had more songs on top of the charts that Lata and Kishore, that is the mark of a true legend.
Is the book really the best-seller it is being claimed to be? It still hasn't reached any of the book shops in my home town, Lucknow and I had to get it through someone in Mumbai. The book is a major disappointment and has a number of glitches with regard to the artistes on which specific songs have been picturised. Even otherwise, it is more of the writer's individual perspective that a true representation of facts as they had unfolded.
Mr Raju has let down Great Rafi Saab couple of times in this Article but it depends on for whom you work. One also can write some bad words for the tactics used by Great Lataji for not letting any other singer come up in her time. It would be better to talk about Good and let off other things. Otherwise Lataji, Mukeshji, Kishoreji, Rafiji, Mannaji etc all of them are GREAT...
