Aamir lucky
by manibala kumar on Aug 15, 2010 05:29 PM  | Hide replies

Aamir Khan is lucky to have good scripts come his way. SRK and Salman lack script knowledge. What happened to My name is khan and Veer? Who ever find fault with Peepli are jealous at aamir khan's success.

You forgot Prakash Jha from Bihar, who made films like Rajneeti, Gangajal, Apaharan, MrityuDand etc. Truly, if we rid ourselves of these non-Hindi speakers somehow, we will flourish like anything. These DadaKondkes are good for nothing...

Non-Hindis have ruined Hindi film industry. They should go and ruin their own film industry. Now that Hindi directors are there, Hindi film industry is flourishing.

Really one of the best films of Aamir Khan production house
by arnab bhattacharya on Aug 15, 2010 05:23 PM  | Hide replies

Saw the movie 2nd time today.. surely 2nd half as sudden sequences and dialogues that have layers.. Being screened at Sundance film festival I feel this has chance for oscar (personally i felt this is better than Lagaan..Lagaan was more commercially viable film while this film is a great satire with subtlety and symbolism used in the narrative that might not appeal regular cine goers..overall a great attempt.. One of the best of this yr along with Udaan,LSD, ishqiya)

These days Hindi movies produced by Hindi directors like Vishal Bharadwaj, Anusha Rizvi, Anurag Kashyap are simply the best, and are saving Hindi cinema from doom. But I don't understand why are non-Hindi speakers watching these films. We don't need non-Hindi speakers like marathis (ghatibhaus), gujjus, bongs, and southies for the survival of Hindi movies. We are 500 million in number (300 million in UP/Bihar alone), and Hindi movies will live or die if they do/don't do well in Hindi belt. Non-Hindis of India should watch movies of their own language, and support their film industries which only produce Dada Kondke movies. We Hindians don't need you for anything, so why don't you just get lost from our sights?

seen peepli (live) in USA on independence day late night show...went full of spirits of India...
Movie is good, acting and camera work is really good...but its not great as other Aamir khan's picture...A serious topic is touched upon with realism of some excellent characters but realistic portrayal of the core issue is not that good...but now since its an aamir khan movie, critics wud rather play safe...

Well I beg to differ with u as satires are made in this way twisting the reality a little bit.. This film was a difficult one to show the plight of farmers, corruption, ignorance of media in a satirical way .. Anusha Rizvi successfully implemented that..hats off to the lady and Aamir Khan for again taking a diff route from mainstream

hi!!!
I m nt saying its a bad movie or bad attempt...bit I felt ,its over rated by critics like make it tax free and all...Its a good attempt but somewhere plot is lost between showing plight of a farmer and media games...

Nothing special about this movie
by kuldeep yadav on Aug 15, 2010 01:18 PM  | Hide replies

I did not found anything special about this movie. It seems to be all marketing stunt from Amir. I would rate it as 2 out of 5. In fact, they have made mockery on farmer suicides.

@glen: Well, if a movie is good then it is and no prejudice on basis of acting crew. And then even a lal bahadur won't help corrupting. Try it with poor inocent countryside folks.
